Try to uninstall the Audio driver in your system and restart the system.after restarting install the correct driver for your audio. if this not work maybe there some loss cable connection to your speaker. try to check the system speaker maybe set to "mute". you can double click the volume speaker at the "taskbar" . not see in the taskbar you can go to control panel and click "sounds, speech and audio devices" then click "sounds and audio devices" uncheck the mute box opposite and apply.

I am able to play cd but not dvd's...what to do???

What kind of disk drive does your computer have?

Just look on the front of the drawer, if its says some thing like CD rom or CD RW then it will only play CD's you'll need to upgrade.

If it says something like DVD rom or DVD-RW then it should play dvd's and maybe you don't have the right codecs installed on your computer.

Assuming so go to download and install a programme called VLC media player.
Its free and once installed should play your DVD's

Media center does not play cds or dvds please help

You have to check your CD/DVD Rom to make sure the device is not faulty.

Open your Windows Explorer, insert any CD/DVD to see whether your CD/DVD is able to read the the disk.

If it cannot read the disk, most probably the CD/DVD rom is faulty and you have to replace it.

How to play a cd on my computer

Please elaborate the problem providing us with more details like the type of CD which you want to play on your computer (Music CD, video CD, photos, etc.)

Also, let us know the operating system of your computer (windows XP, Vista, others)

Usually, to play a CD, one has to insert the CD in the CD drive of the computer and a pop-up menu opens asking you to select the program to open the CD. If the content of the CD is music or video files, it can be viewed using Windows Media Player.

For more help and clarifications, please feel free to reply to this post with additional details.

Thanks for using FixYa.

What is MP3?

MP3 is the prefered method for music downloads.

MP3 is a file format on which music is created for CD downloads which can be played either, on a computer or an MP3 player (like the one on your cell phone.)

Your computer uses pre-installed software called a media player to play the MP3 songs on the CD download. If you have a Windows based PC for example (Windows XP, Vista etc.) when you click on the download - Windows Media Player will open and automatically start playing the songs.

So, you're safe to download the music in MP3 format. It will be of good sound quality.

Disk will not play after music burned to it using media player version 11. Have 2 pc 1 it works on the is doesnt. Help

be sure under the burn tab you have chosen "audio cd". Also see if the disk you have burnt will play in the computer. It should play either way, where most regular cd players will not play mp3 files.

Optiarc cd-rw crx880a ata device: This device cannot start. (Code 10)

Did you try to click "Troubleshoot" on the page that reported "cannot start" ?

Did you try to click on the device, and choose "uninstall" ?
Then, rebooting Windows should cause Windows to "find new hardware", and properly configure the DVD/CD drive.
