Older Model Hampton Bay Ceiling Fan: The Redington II w/Remote Control

Our Fan has absolutely no signal going to it all of a sudden after years of service. I have checked the DIP switches both on the Transmitter and the Receiver in the Fan. They are set exactly the same, the Remote has a brand new 9V in it, and the Red LED is on every time the button is depressed - no light to the unit, no fan action, and the switch on the wall is ON. I have tried shutting the power down, removing the battery, checking the switch, transmitter & receiver, with no response at all.
Can someone help me with what the problewn might be? Could the switch on the wall all of a sudden go bad? The only thing different is that a carpet cleaner guy switched the switch without knowing the fan needs the remote.
How do you reset this unit outside of what I've already done per the Owner''s Manual?

I have 4 Hampton fans throughout my house that are same or very similar models (all white). The fans no longer work on three of the models. They have gone out over the last couple of years at different times. I am now forced to change out two of the fans in my kid's room bacause the lights are no longer working either (as of the last couple of weeks). The only fan/light that is fully functional is the one that is RARELY used in a basement room.

    • The remotes for all untis still work as I can test on working functions on the last two fans/lights.

    • The fan motors are gone on the three units; one fan still works but I do not know how long.

    • The lights on two of the units still work (on/off and dim/brighten); one of the other two sometimes come on but seem to go off after a minute or two.

Any help is appreciated as I really hate to give up the remote control. If I cannot fix or get support on the present issues, I will abandon the idea of going back with Hampton Bay or the more expensive remote type units.

I have two hampton bay remote fan/lights, circa late 1999. one remote quit about two years ago, the other quit a month ago. the LED comes on when button is depressed, batteries and DIPs are good. went to local home depot store, found a replacement control and fan/light internal controller. tried the new remote but it apparently won't work with the older generation fans. Model #UC7078T, FCC ID CHQ8BT7078T is the older remote #

I have a the Redington II by Hampton Bay purchased Aug 2000. The fan & light stopped working Nov 2003 & I ordered & replaced the transmitter. It has been over 10 yrs and the lights & fan quit a few days ago. Put a new 9V battery in the remote with not response from the fan. I'll try to order another motor, easy to install & hope to enjoy it for another 10+ yrs.

The wireless remotes have a little disk battery in the transmitter. Like a watch batter, go to the hardware and get one the same number type.

I have a Reddington IV model where the fwd/rev switch on the body of the fan broke and the fan will not spin at all. Went to HomeDepot and they gave me a phone no. 1(800) 654-0688 they asked for the UPC and SKU numbers which I did not have. I email them a picture of the fan and determined the manufacturer of my fan. They told me I was to be contacted by the mfg., but I was not at my desk when they called. So far it all seems positive. I will post with the outcome :-)

I'm back with good news. I got a call from the fan company and they located the broken switch. They are sending me a replacement part for $7.99 with shipping. Can't wait. By the way the UPC number is located on the top body part of the fan on a label. Very hard to read, but got my camera and took a close up picture. Good luck to all!

I have the Redington II ceiling fan and the transmitter will not turn off the lights. I see many people are experiencing similar problems. Remote is fine because the fan works forward and reverse and speen can be set; however, the lights will not turn off.HELP!!

Ironically, i am having the same problem with TWO different Reddington's in my house.

One is brand new, just hung a few weeks ago, the other is about 3 years old.

The new one -- the lights are stuck in a constant dim, bright, off, dim bright off, and the fan wont turn at all.

The old one, the lights wont come on and the fan will only spin slow.

Both failed within a day or two of each other, and this is driving me nuts.

I thought it might be the remotes, so I took both remotes and pulled the batteries out of each, but that didnt do anything.

If anyone else is having this problem, please post.

sounds like the radio signal amp is blown..that is a full replacement deal..that would explain this, and the power

SOURCE: Hampton bay ceiling fan with built-in remote receiver

No fan disassembly, just the houseing mounted to the ceiling. the transmitter is in there. U can try and match it to a new remote or look for some number on the transmitter. However u can usually buy a new remote and transmitter for 30 bucks and just swap out the transmitter. They come labeled and r pretty easy to install.

SOURCE: Hampton Bay Redington IV ceiling fan remote won't work

the reciever is under the cover for your fan to the ceiling. Try pulling the switches on you fan then using the remote after each try. then check your wall switches,,, it could be wired to one.

My Hampton Bay ceiling fan runs only on high speed and the remote has stopped working even after changing the batteries. Does Hampton Bay have a life time warranty?

Yes, look up www.hamptonbay.com and get their contact number from them. It sounds like your transmitter (Remote) has failed. If it were the receiver the fan would most likely not work at all.

Hampton bay ceiling fan (7030T) remote does not work.

This symptom is usually caused by either a bad receiver or bad transmitter. Install a new remote system (receiver & transmitter).

You must use the switch on the fan itself.
