Limiting Bandwidth via routher

Hi,

I have an Asus wl 600g router and live in a shared house where our internet connection is always reaching the limit before end of month.
I've increased our limit to 200gb per month and it is still experiencing the same issue.
My next idea was to limit the dl rate per mac address or setting up quotas for each connection.
I currently have 2 pcs via cable , 3 wireless computer and 3 other wireless devices connected.
I feel that it is one of those 3 wireless computers that are killing the limit. Been looking everywhere online for a solution but have not found anything useful yet.

Hope someone can help me with this.

Thank you in advance

You need to introduce either a firewall or a proxy server in the middle, which could provide this facility.

Normally, only 4 devices are supported. A second line would eliminate the problem. Make sure you password protect them. Others could be jumping on when you don't know about it. You're paying for their internet access.

I have an asus wl-600g router ADSL modem. I want my PS3 to see the local resources in the network but be blocked to internet access. The reason is to use it for media purposes, playing movies or music...

Maybe... Thats the best answer i could give you on it. You would need to login to the router and see if there is the option to filter access by device to the internet, MAC filtering possibly, a lot of routers can do this but i have never seen your model specifically.

I have a speedport W722V router with several computers conected using wireless network. A have also an Asus WL 600g router that I would like to use as an AP to enable me to use the USB printer port to...

configure the 600G to a static IP on the same subnet as the 722, and then wire it port to port (say, port 1 to port 1, do NOT use the WAN port) - don't forget to disable the NAT/DHCP on the 600G after you assign it's network IP address (not the WAN address, local address, the WAN port will no longer matter and will be unused on the 600G)

I forgot my username and password of my asus WL-600g Router can i change it or is there some how i can see in

you failed to say:
1: lost Wifi PW
2: or lost router login screen configs, PW.

there are just answers,
do #2 first and set the wifi like you want on any router. you own.
or if #2 fails and you are locked out then push the routers reset button in for 15 seconds and release it some need 30 seconds
the manual covers that if you read it.

here page 55 actual ,10seconds.

Software to restric internet access

You can use a Bandwidth limiting software on the appropriate laptop that can set an Upload and Download speed limit on any Internet accessing software: it is a fair-priced commercial s/w called 'Netlimiter' and you can download the 'PRO' version on a 28-Days evaluation from: http://www.netlimiter.com/download.php
Very handy to limit each application bandwidth especially Data transfer from your Laptop when using a browser (such as IE/Firefox/Chrome) at the same time as a Peer to Peer application (such as Azarus/Edonkey/EMule).

We have a problem with the password being changed and unsecured access for others to our internet. How do we secure our modem access?

You want to secure the wireless network.
Is there any computer connected to the router with the Ethernet cable?
If not then you will need to connect the computer to the router with the cable.
Check the IP address on the computer. Open the router set up page.
Once you open the set up page, you will find the option to make it secured

Asus wl 600g

How to connect to the wireless network?
Problem connecting to the wireless network?

What is the Operating system on the laptop ?
If it is XP then in the bottom right hand corner you will find Wireless network connection ( looks like 1 computer monitor). Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is windows Vista, then in the bottom right hand corner you will find 2 computer monitor icon. Use that icon to connect to the wireless network.
If it is Windows 98/ME/2000 then use the adapter utility to connect to the wireless network.
For MAC you will see the AIRPORT icon at the top.

Check the wireless settings of the router first . Make sure that yopu have all the wireless settings of the router. If you are not sure about the settings, then open the router set up and check the settings.
