PLEASE NOTE THAT PSP 3000 MODELS CANNOT BE DOWNGRADED Straight from the horses mouth so to speak, that's leeched from a Downgrading site. I further checked out, and it seems to be 100% correct. In my investigations i found an interesting post where someone, edited certain files, and changed the update's number, and it simply worked? Now IF The installer does everything, from a clean setup, and I imagine it would have to, or remnant data would remain, there is NO reason why this won't work, As a computer engineer, back in the day, we would do stuff like this alla time, to get around issues, so anyway i'll post the link, A snippet from the post. if ya read the whole thing they flame the kid real bad, But ya know i actually think he may be onto something..? I used a hex editor on the 5.03 EBOOT.PBP file and replaced every instance of "5.03" with "5.55" and saved it. Then I put that file on my memory card and used it on my psp... It worked... sorta. The file was accepted as a new update and began to install, but I didn't let it finish because the fear of bricking my system. http://forums.pspslimhacks.com/user-help/1606-how-downgrade-psp-3000-5-51-5-03-a.html
it is just an eol (End Of Live) in the software of your ds card. Plug out your ds and remove your r4 card. Plug on your ds and change the date to 2009. Plug out your ds and insert your r4 cart. Plug on your ds and you can play again. Now there wil be new software on the internet who is an update on the old software, so if you want to renew your software ist there on the net.

It seems to me like the PSP system is corrupt. The system reads some programs (maybe all) in hexadecimal (computer language) and it is very likely that these codes were somehow inputted wrong or were changed. This could happen by turning off the system or removing the memory card while updating or trying to hack the PSP system. I am not sure if there are any ways to fix this yourself.
