Question about Dell 0Y3740 Keyboard
I just had a Dell 5150 serviced by a contracted technician because the memory was defective. I bought this computer second hand and the keyboard is a microsoft keyboard not a dell keyboard. After the technician fixed the memory problem and replaced it I now can't use the keyboard. When I boot up the computer I have 3 little green lights that are flashing on the keyboard but the keyboard will not work.
Before this computer completely died on me I was having the same keyboard issues on and off. Do you have any suggestions?
Thanks for your help.
YOU MAY HAVE TWO ISSUES:
KEYBOARD NOT CONNECTED
CMOS BATTERY IS STARTING TO FAIL
HOW MANY TIME DID THE LIGHTS FLASH.
DID YOU CHECK TO SEE IF THE KEYBOARD WAS EVEN CONNECTED, IT GOING TO BE A RIBBON WITH LITTLE WIRES GOING THROUGH THE RIBBON, THE RIBBON ONLY GOES IN ONE DIRRECTION,
THE OTHER PROBLEM IS IF THE CMOS BATTERY IS GETTING LOW THEN IT WILL NOT KEEP THE BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE COMPUTER SETTING CORRECT, THIS MEANS YOU COULD LOOSE THE MONITOR, KB, HD, TIME, OPERATIONAL SYSTEM, AND BOOT SEQUENCE. HARD DRIVE SETTINGS.
IF YOU JUST PICKED UP THE COMPUTER FROM THE SHOP
YOU SHOULD OF CALLED THEM AND EXPLAINED THE PROBLEM AND WHAT SHOULD YOU DO NOW.
EVERY TIME YOU EVERY HAVE ANYONE ELSE WORK ON ANY OF YOUR COMPUTER EQUIPMENT AND DEVICES, HAVE THEM EXPLAIN WHAT THEY DID IN SOMETHING YOU CAN UNDERSTAND SO YOU DONT MAKE THE SAME MISSTAKE AGAIN.
