Question about Polaroid FLM-3225 32 in. LCD Television

1 Answer

Red distortion I have had my 32" Polaroid LCD TV for 2 years. About two months ago I started noticing a red distortion on the screen. It either appears as a red or a darker purple. It shows up in clusters (tiny blocks) often outlining shapes to some extent. It also seems to show up alot on top of the color white. When it shows up on white it is a brighter red distortion. It seems to be getting progressively worse. I have cable, and it is at its worst when watching digital channels and dvds. It is beginning to show up more on the HD channels, but doesn't seem to show up with standard analog channels (lower cable channels). This TV is no longer under warranty. Is there any hope for an easy fix or should I be looking for a new TV?

Re: red distortion

It sounds like your IR board is going out, its easy to replace and is inexpensive usually about 10.00 plus tax and shipping, and very easy to install, its one of the few parts you can buy for these models outside of the 479.00 dollar control box.

Hi andrew, its not a big problem.. Decent TV. but the pixels are DEAD. that means you have to recover them by fixing the LCD. this would cost you around £40-60 for a 32 inch TV. hope this helps!

Black screen

You may have blown power supply for the backlight inverter or blown backlight inverter board, either one are cheap!,
This is cheaply made TV to begin with. Repiar shop will charge you $200 and up plus parts.

I'm having the same problem with the same TV. I called around to repair shops and I guess it's fixable. Haven't taken it in yet but I was told it most likely is a bad module. But this seems to be a really common problem with this television

Shadows on screen

Try moving a medium powered magnet (not one for picking up heavy objects and not a refrigerator holding one) over the distorted area. If that doesn't work, try a more powerful one. This worked for my Toshiba LCD. Good luck!
