Most likely blockage in the foot. Check for hair etc wrapped on the brush and clogging suction port. Twist 3 plastic 'screws' ati clockwise 1/2 a turn and remove base to access the brushes.

My Dyson DC14 had no suction...see if this works...turn the Dyson upside down...there is a length of hose that connects the bottom of the vacuum to the top, careful remove one end of the hose and check for debris...mine was clogged. Removed the clog and voila...it works. Thanks for the above info on checking the hose for cracks.

There should be a sponge like filter in the area of the canister and no this is NOT the HEPA filter. When you find this other filter you will want to bang it off outside and then put it back in and you should be all set.
