No need of Device driver. You actually need Burning software for example nero burning or some one other as you like.

Toast 5 is a bit old now - the current version is 10 and that's been out over a year.
However, I've just looked this drive up on the web and according to Philips, the last driver update for this drive was windows 98 in September 2004.
Best to chuck it away and get a new DVD drive - and then update your OS to 10.5.8

I have the same Pacific Digital burner; I'm pretty sure the "round 4 or 5 pin cable" you're referring to is a 5 pin power supply cable.

i dont get what your saying cause if your going to fix it yourself you just need another out of use cd rom but if your looking for the power supply it might be cheaper replacen the burner buy and return this works well

If you are using the Pro version of XP, it will burn your photos to the CD itself. As I recall, this didn't work in the Home version of XP, but you could try it. Simply drag and drop the photos onto the burner drive from within Windows Explorer. Once they are all there, I think there's a menu item which tells XP to perform the burn and eject the disk. All that assumes that the burner is working OK on your machine
