The handle on my single handle kitchen faucet falls down and shuts off the water unless you hold it up and have a good stream of water flowing. Can this be fixed or does the faucet need replacing?
There should be an Allen screw on the underside of the handle. Loosen it to take the handle off, then tighten up the packing nut with a channel-lock wrench.
I was assuming you were talking about a Delta since that is one of the oldest and most common single handle faucets, and there are lot of copies. Is there a cap, plastic or metal in the center of the handle (Price Pfister or Moen)? If so, pry it off and take off the Phillips screw underneath it to get the handle off, then tighten the packing nut.

There is no allen screw on the handle. Nothing.
The faucet is a Price Pfister, but there isn't any cap or anything on the handle that you can take off. I was wondering if the handle or part of it could be screwed off.
