Improper shutdown following a 0xc19a0035 ink failure problem
I can not intervene in cycle of on/off, each time it cuts itself on the display reads "improper shut down, do not use power cord or power strip to turn printer off". then asking to press "OK" but without waiting for a response it shuts off and starts the cycle again. can't find how to fix in user manual.

Hi hptechnicalsupportnumber , I want to help you with your question, but I need more information from you. Can you please add details in the comment box?
Which model printer do you have?
Did you recently change ink cartridges?
Did you perform other cleaning or maintenance?
Is the printer old, or possibly new enough to still be under warranty for free repair?

My C6180 had the 0xc19a0035 Ink System Failure code, eventually the printer would power on and off every 15-20 seconds - continuously. Apparently some defective components were used in the construction of the logic board (see photo). On my C6180 there were 3 failed capacitors (the green cylinders - the puffed top indicates failure) and a 4th from the same manufacturer (TEAPO - many unfavorable web references to this manufacturer). I purchased 3x 330uF 16V and 1x 680uF 10v rated to 105 degrees Celsius (total about 60cents). On the logic board, the capacitors I replaced are labeled C613, C614, C660 and C662. If you are not comfortable replacing the parts yourself (or don't have a soldering tool), you will have to find someone who will. The time to repair should be less than 30 min - I did it in 25 min with only a solder pen. This fixed the on and off problem and also fixed the ink system failures the printer was having. A similar fix may apply to other HP printers.

I ordered parts from mouser.com, but DigiKey.com may have better prices.I ordered 3 of these and 1 of these. here is a

The ink system failure message has a chance to be fixed or it may be a permanent issue. It
can be pointing toward a firmware failure in the printer and if that is the case the
following steps should fix it. Press and hold the “*” key. Press the “#” key and release both keys. Display should say “Enter Special Key Combo” Press and release in sequence the "1”, “2” and “3” buttons. Display should say “Support” and display the FW rev (something like R0631R) Mine reads R0631M . Press and release the right arrow button until the display says “System Configuration
Menu”. Press and release the “OK” button. Display should say “Hardware failure status”. If not there already, Arrow Key over to
“Hardware failure status”, Press and release the “OK” button. Display should say “Hardware failure status: Clear. Press OK to clear”. Press and release the “OK” Button. Message changes to “Hardware failure status Cleared.
Press Cancel to continue”. Press and release the “CANCEL” button as many times as necessary, so that, either the
“Welcome to Photosmart Express” screen appears, or, the “Ink System Failure” screen appears.
PLEASE DO NOT TRY TO PRINT AT THIS STAGE. Using the Power Button, turn the unit OFF and unplug the power cable from back of the
printer and wall outlet. Wait 30 seconds for the power to get discharged and then plug the power cable into the wall
outlet first and then into the back of the printer. Turn the unit on. The printer may display message “USE POWER BUTTON TO SHUTDOWN THE PRINTER”
followed by “PRESS OK TO CONTINUE”. Press OK. The Printer will start the “ONE TIME INK
INITIALIZATION PROCESS”. Allow this process to complete and do not interrupt. Once the
initialization process is complete, the printer will print out a Diagnostic Page.

Got the same problem following a message "Printer ink failure" code 0xc19a0035. Instructions say to shut down using button on/off. But printer refused to shutdown. After 30 minutes, I disconnected power cable. Removed cartridges. Reloaded cartridges. Reconnected power cable and got "Improper shutdown" message with continuous cycle. Solution: 1. While the printer is still turned on, unplug all cables and cords at the back of the printer. 2. Unplug the power cord also from the wall outlet... 3. Wait for two minutes. 4. Reconnect power cord to the wall outlet first. 5. Press and hold the pound (#) and six (6) buttons. 6. While holding down the two buttons, reconnect the power cord to the back of the printer and after two seconds, release pound and six buttons. 7. Turn on the printer if it turns off... and it's fixed.
8. Be patient to let printer run its tests.
