DV6220LA won't boot and hard reset didn't work

I have a Pavilion DV6220LA that won't start. I pressed the power button and all the lights are on but no futher movement. No error message, nothing on the screen, and after a while it reboots itself but stalls right after turning on with all the lights on. I left it rebooting for days but saame thing happened over and over again.
I check the thread posted by leetyger (my model is not included in the list) and reviewed the HP link posted by h0lmes, the solution posted by Bigman2009 and did a hard reset, tried the solution # 6 by morcindo44 and I still have the same problem.
I started a chat session with HP support and after about one hour they told me I have a BIOS problem and should take the unit to the nearest service center.
I hope someone can help me here. Thanks in advance.

    Thank you for the advice.
This won't do it for me, I press the power button but the unit does not do anything but turning on the leds on the unit. No BIOS activity, no CD drive detection, no HDD activity, nothing, just the LED lighted up.
    Thanks anyway.

Lets try this before we give up all hope.
when you start having this problem it's normally caused by a critical systems error. worry not.. with a little time on your part we can fix this- this is how-
Go here
using a torrent program ie (utorrent, shareaza, etc) download SPINRITE.exe. Burn this on a disk, the program is written with freedos included, but this will not work with 100% of laptops. if freedos won't allow the program to run successfully then you need to use a program such as PowerISO to burn the disk and make it a bootable image,
after burning the program to disk-

  • insert disk and reboot
  • press any key to boot from cd if asked
  • when you see Prompt, change to cd drive
  • type SPINRITE to start program
  • use recovery option 5
this may take a few hours or a few days depending on the condition of the HDD.
I have used this program to fix computers I've picked up on the side of the road. I would power it on, start to load then go into a loop. after running this program overnight I was able to reboot (after removing disk) and the pc started right up.

Make sure you run a program like Ccleaner (you can get at www.fileippo.com) to clean your registry and junk files after completion. ^_^

My Asus X553M laptop is not booting up. Any ideas how to fix this problem?

Temitope, Hard reset. Open computer, remove battery, hold power button down (((1 minute))), reinsert battery, reassemble laptop, push/hold power button a couple seconds.
2nd fix, try to boot laptop without hdd.(hard drive). Remove the hdd, then turn on the laptop.. then it can get into the bios.. reset the bios to the default setting, turn off the laptop, and then turn it on again with hdd reinstalled. This seems to be what works in the forums with this issue found in Asus laptops. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

That could be a reason. When the machine boots up, you should be able to press a function key (usually F8, but varies between makes). This should bring you into a setup menu, where you could choose to boot from a CD or a USB stick.

You should have received a CD with your machine called something like a recovery boot disk or similar. If you have it, try that. If not, do a search the HP site (safest) or google for something that gives you the option to create a bootable CD or USB. Try to boot with that. If that works, and your hard drive does not, that would certainly mean a dead or dying hard drive.

If you do manage to boot up, the first thing I would suggest is you get all your important data onto some other storage media. Gather all your original software installation CDs, and when you have all you want, it might be worth trying to reformat your hard disk. If that works, you will then have to reinstall everything, from the operating system to every last software.

Good luck.

Gateway MP8708 Won't boot past BIOS and won't boot into CD/USB/Safe Mode on XP - Blank screen with keyboard dead - Num locks on and wireless light

Somehow your MBR (Master Boot Record) likely got corrupted or possibly your hard drive went bad coincidentally.

Simply, you will start your computer from your Windows CD/DVD install disk, then when at a DOS prompt ( D:\ ) you will then type: FDISK /MBR (press enter).

Find your Operating System install DVD and start your computer with it, then follow instructions within this discussion:
Restore Windows XP MBR without Windows XP disc

Alternatively, review my search results for other instructions:

It seems there is no booting as the memory is not responding or the hard disc is not booting up. Please check on the back up CMOS button cell battery on the back side of the laptop. replace if the voltage is low.
Also remove and reset the memory, if not you need to take consensus to know if this can be the hard disc, memory or the motherboard.

Hi,

If the battery of the HP laptop is not in a good condition, sometimes booting problems might happen. To remove any static charges accumulated in the battery, you would have to remove the battery and press the Power button for about 25-35 seconds. Then reset the battery. Even after this, if your laptop is not booting up then you could perform the battery calibration and press F8 key to boot in safe mode.

My screen is backwork and the arow doesnt work

DO THIS FIRST - Perform a hard reset If a PC suddenly fails to boot properly, you should perform a hard reset as the first procedure.
  1. Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and media cards. You want to test the computer not the accessories!
  2. Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery, and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds .
  3. Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not connect the battery), Press the Power button, Look for glowing LEDs near caps lock and num lock keys, and Listen for sounds of a disk drive and fan turning.
Actions to take after performing hard reset If no error message is displayed:
