Scanner failure error keeping always

I have 5 printers in my company allof working well but daily printers are keeping one message in display.this is scanner failure.
in this moment what should i do plz hellp me as soon as possible

    My printer works fine but I have to turn on and off constantly I keep getting the error message, "scanner error turn power off and back on." I am told by HP that it is doing that due to the bulb since it works off of heat but they say bulb cannot be replaced..Does anyone have idea or how to get and replace the bulb?

    I have the same problem! It started after I scanned a document a year ago and the scanner error keeps appearing!! Even after I shut down and start the printer the error message appears! Please Help!!

I have the same issue and HP says it is the bulbs so does others on this website. Presently I have 2 bulbs ordered from California at $22.00 each. I have already had the printer apart and the bulbs CAN BE replaced. Very simple to get apart to get to the bulbs. I am betting the bulbs will fix it.

My printer still prints, but make noise when the scanner lamp warms up. After that, the screen says, "Scanner Error 5". What's the problem?

This is due to a hardware failure, the scanner assembly and the formatter board will need to be replaced.

Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the enter and the * button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

if this does not work contact hp 1800-334-5144.

3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

if this does not work contact hp 1800-334-5144 , if within 2 years from the purchase date ask for a case number to have the printer serviced under a service note.

I have Networked hp model M2727nf all-in-one printer/scanner/fax.displies error "scanner error 5" on the display screen. i turned off/on the machine more than 4 or 5 times the error does not go away!


This is due to a formatter failure.

Try an nvram
Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the right arrow and the cancel button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

I keep getting a cartridge 50C cartridge error on my printer. What can I do to fix it? I can't print just anything. The test printer works but I can't print anything else.

Regarding the Dell A940 "Error 50c"....the user guide doesn't seem to mention "Error 50c". They do, however, mention a "Cartridge Error" on page 52 of the manual. They claim this means that the printer has detected a short circuit (fuse/resister) in the cartridge. As you may or may not have noticed in the manual, this is what they recommend doing about it:

1) Press Power to turn the printer off.

2) Lift the printer cover/lid (scanner unit) until the scanner support holds it open.

3) Turn the printer on.
The ink cartridge carrier moves and stops at the loading position unless the printer is busy.

4) Remove the color ink cartridge.

5) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.
If the error message displays again, replace the black cartridge with a new black cartridge.

If the error message does not display, repeat steps 1–3 and then go to step 6.

6) Reinstall the color cartridge and remove the black ink cartridge.

7) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If the error message displays again, replace the color cartridge with a new
color cartridge.
If there is no error message (indicated by flashing lights), repeat steps 1–3 and then reinstall both ink cartridges.
8) Lower the printer (scanner unit) until it is completely closed.

If you get the error message again, while both cartridges are installed, replace both of the cartridges.

Basically, what they want you to determine is,....if the short circuit is with the "black ink" cartridge or the "color ink" cartridge and then replace the cartridge that has the problem.

You may have to buy a new cartrige.

this printer is experiencing what is known as a formatter/scanner assembly failure, hp has a service note issued to service printer up to 2 years after the purchase date.

Try doing a hard or reset or nvram:
1. Turn the printer off
2. Hold down the right arrow and the cancel button
3. Reboot the printer while holding the buttons and hold until permanent storage is displayed. Let go of the buttons and wait for the ready message on the display.

if this does not work contact hp. 1800-334-5144 in order for them to create a case under the service note and have the printer serviced. Both the scanner assembly and formatter board need to be replaced.

My M2727nf doesn't coppy or scan. message displays " error 5 Turn off and turn on." After turning off and on, it keeps displaying the same message.

R40 Scanner Failure
