Whenever I type the words come out jumbled with parts of a word mixed in with another word. A nightmare to write a letter.Correcting the missformed letter is not impossible but so time consuming

Is this on a notebook or net book as in my personal experience working for Acer this was caused by position of the hands whilst typing causing the palms to drag across the touchpad which then moved the cursor elsewhere on the line or even the screen, nearly all makes & models have a built in key or button to enable or disable the touchpad maybe it is something you could try to see if it resolves your issue.

Cursor jumps into a previously-typed word or line and emails won't open

which email account ??

Acer laptop computers come with built-in touchpads to control cursor movement onscreen. Depending on the sensitivity and settings of the touchpad, it may register undesired motions as mouse controls, causing the cursor to jump erratically. The software drivers that Acer includes with its systems have sensitivity options that help alleviate this problem and ensure that only deliberate touchpad motions and taps cause the cursor to move.

Click on the Start menu and open the Control Panel. Choose an "Icon View" option from the "View by" dropdown menu, then click the "Mouse" icon. Navigate to the "Device Settings" tab and click on the Synaptics device in the list. If you have installed and use custom software other than a Synaptics application for controlling the touchpad, select it instead. Click the "Settings" button. Click the "+" symbol to expand the "Pointing" section in the left frame, and then the "Sensitivity" section. Click on "PalmCheck." If you have replaced the Synaptics drivers, the menu may use a different set of options. Click and drag the bar to the right, closer to the "Maximum" setting. An increased PalmCheck setting will help decrease cursor jumping due to accidental palm activations, a common occurrence when typing. Click on "Touch Sensitivity." Click and drag the bar to the right, closer to the "Heavy Touch" end. This will ensure light brushes by fingers or accidental activations by other objects will not cause the cursor to jump. Click "Apply" to test the settings, and "OK" when satisfied to save the changes and close the window.

Touchpad not working smoothly on dell laptop

Hi all. I was able to fix 2 x E5430 with touchpad unresponsiveness. I tried all other fixes suggested like uninstalling drivers, trying different drivers, adjusting touchpad settings from software, uninstalling antivirus etc, spent 3 days solid on it...ALL TO NO HELP in my 2 E5430's.
..... So I followed a tutorial online to pull apart the touchpad There is a metallic adhesive that earths the touchpad. Press and rub the adhesive so it makes good contact with chassis it is stuck to, reassemble, that's it! My 2 Dell E5430's now work as expected. No jerks, no unexpected double clicks, no dragging stuff around by accident!!!!! Yah for me!!!

Tapping on gateway nv 53 trackpad not working

This just happened on my HP2730P. I always used the click on the touchpad, plus used the right click button at the bottom. Yesterday it just decided to stop working and went started doing the selecting and dragging while I was moving the mouse around and my left click stopped working. Obviously my enable tap click was already on cuz I used it all the time.

My solution was disabling the buttons under the "buttons" tab. Then my mousepad tap started working again, I regained function in the scrollbar on the mousepad again, and if I need to right click I can use the point stick buttons right above the pad.

Does it start working when you reboot? If so, try changing the "Touchpad Sensitivity" option :)

How do you highlight with a touchpad

With most touchpads you hold down the left mouse button to select then move the cursor with the other hand by pressing a finger on the touchpad and dragging it. Be sure your touch pad is not disabled - usually a button near it with an indicator LED.

Touchpad not working

If you are not computer savvy I do not recommend you trying to replace the touchpad, it usually involves completely disassembling the notebook.

Simpliest solution - plug in a usb mouse.

"sticky" mouse on compaq laptop

Unless your left mouse button has been severely damaged, it is unlikely that a loose button is the cause of your problem. More likely, it is your touchpad. Chances are your touchpad is set to click when tapped. Oversensitive touchpads can click randomly when you're dragging your finger across the touchpad.

To test this, position your cursor over a link (or other button) but don't press the left mouse button. Instead, lightly tap the touchpad itself. If the link or button is clicked, go to your Control Panel and adjust the Mouse options so your touchpad no longer clicks when tapped. It's usually a setting titled "tap to click" or something along those lines.
