Question about LaCie d2 DVD-RW Burner

DVD RW reading problem

After burning onto  a Tevion DVD+RW disc, I was able to read the data okay. The next day the disc could not be recognised in any way. I'm using Toast 7 and when entering 'disc info' I get the caption: 'There is no disc in the recorder'. The disc does not exist to my powerbook drive either. I have probably burned to this disc before and erased successfully. I also have 4 other discs of this type and none of these will work either now, whereas they all did before. What can I do to resolve this please in simple terms!?

Tevion DVD Recorder TDR930 shows "no disc" on all inserted discs including DVD +_ RW and commercial DVD's from store.

I have the same problem you have with the discs, but as far as i know my dvd drive works fine, it works in writing and reading other discs, i think it may just be the Tevion RW discs.

Ok it seems as if the drive may be dying or is dead. You said you used these disc before so the problem is with the media(disc) its with the medium*the drive) I dont think flashing the firware in this case will hely you will need to replace the drive :)

I already wrote disc but how to overwrite a disc

On a CD-R, if you don't finalize or write protect the disk, can you overwrite a file?

Or in overwriting are you simply creating a second file of the same name in the TOC/directory and deleting the name, only, of the first file

You can add more data if there is space on the DVD+R, but you can't overwrite it.

You see, when a disc is burned, little microscopic ridges are put onto the disc. This is your data.

You cannot overwrite this data.

It's kind of like trying to use a permanent marker on the same spot of paper twice.

Hitachi dvd player not reading all dvds

Hello, I'm here try and help your problem, first older DVD players only read certain disc formats, If you have your owners manuel to your DVD player it will tell you what types of discs the DVD player will play. There are seneral types of burnable disc's DVD -, DVD +, DVD-R, DVD+R, DVD-RW, DVD+RW, please looking in the owners manual for the types of discs that the player will read, also in the same secton it will tell the types of formats that it will read DVD Video, DVD ROM, and there is a few others, Next is when you burn DVD's the type of burner you have makes a difference. You will need to find out what format your DVD burn, burns to disc, some of the newer DVD players
read alot of the formats. I would start by finding out what your DVD burns first, then I would suggest buying a DVD player that will read that format. If you have anyother questions please feel free to post them, Thank You and have a great day.

DVD+RW problem

When burning CD/DVD use a lower burning method... as not to rush data to burn and make sure that before burning the let it verify or test the data burned on the CD/DVD... it takes time, but be patient, after all it is your data.

Dell Cd/Dvd burner not working properly

I have a Dell XPS 400 that's about 3 years old. I have a DVD reader and a DVD-RW device. The former works - the latter takes forever to read discs (particularly DVD data discs.)

I'm starting to think some of the generic DVD-RW devices Dell uses in its computers are prone to early failure. The DVD-RW in my XPS-400 was called "HL-DT-ST DVD+-RW GSA-H21N".

I'm going to try cleaning it, and then just swap it out for a better device.
