Microwave stopped working

About 2 months ago, you suggested I replace the monitor switch on my microwave because the unit came on when I opened the door. This fixed the problem and it has been running great since then. Just yesterday, everything stopped working, as if I unplugged the unit. I checked the house CB and the outlet for power...both OK. Is there an internal fuse that might be giving me a problem?

I replaced the ceramic fuse with an exact type (20A 250V). When I truned the microwave on, on my bench, the fuse blew again as soon as the microwave kicked in and began to draw heavy power. I tried a second fuse thinking it might have been a bad fuse, but I had the same results. Any ideas?

I followed all the common steps. Power, power to circuit. Took the unit out and found the fuse. 15 amp tested and showed bad. Replaced with new one, turned on unit. Clock came and display panel. When I shut the door and turned on microwave to cook, blew the fuss after 5 seconds of run time. Made a real loud humming noise. Replaced that fuss and tried again and got the exact same results.

Yes, there should be a ceramic (tubular) fuse under the cover on the top side where the power comes into the microwave.

This sounds like a common primary interlock switch. Need to check and or replace both door switches. DISCHARGE high voltage components first with no power applied prior to touching anything in the unit. Failure to discharge High Voltage Components can result in death

This problem is caused by a microswitch that is sticking in the closed position. Inspect and replace the defective microswitch in the latch assembly.

Emerson Microwave stopped working

Have 1 of 2 choices, the main fuse or the control board for the front switches and clock. primary of the small power transformer has opened. Unplug the unit and take case off and measure the fuse with an ohm meter. if u read 1 ohm or less then fuse is good. then measure across the main power plug tips. If read open then the power transformer is bad. Need to replace the board as not sure if transformer is available.

FUSE on Microwave still blows

Sounds like a power supply problem. There is a capacitor in the unit which often gives problems. This may be beyond non-professional help and may have been started when you had the other failure.

Probably a bad door switch or door switch mount. It may have gotten damaged or misaligned in shipping.

If you or a friend decide to look into it, we have critical safety information, info on door switch diagnosis and replacement, and
disassembly information at our site, linked here on Fixya: http://tinyurl.com/yzjozk

Being only 2 months old, I would think you have a warranty, but maybe not. I'd contact the seller to see.

It is possible that the magnatron is bad but hard to say on a no heat problem without checking all components. A lot of model give 5-7 yr warranty on that part.
