I just got the Q9m and it it charges, but why cant it turn on? it only has the verizon logo. it doesnt get any farther than that
Just some suggestions. I have had my Q9m since September 07. If you reboot the phone nightly (take battery out put back) and allow to boot up again it help by resetting the RAM. Also under System Tools>Task Manager>Menu>Kill All - it seems that every program you use on the Q it keeps running which causes the Q to slow down and freeze. I know doing these things can be a pain however my Q has been running with zero issues since September. I also have the origional Q in black for over 16 months and I wouldnt trade either phone for anything on the market currently. As far as the screen sticking on the Verizon Logo...try taking battery out, power on and as soon as logo appears pull battery out quick and replace...you may need to do this a few times but it will bypass what ever is causing this boot up error. Windows Mobile 6 certainly isnt perfect. Hope these suggestions help.
This sucks. I have like 400 contacts that I don't want to lose... so I am going to try everything I possibly can to get around this Verizon startup screen. I've had the phone for about half a year and this is the first time this has happened.
My Motorola Q9M has completely locked up on 5 different occasions. After each time I've had to do a master re-boot to clear then entire phone and then re-install all my settings from Active Sync backup. On the 4th re-set I did ALOT of research so as not to happen again. I learned turning off the predictive text could help prevent the text from locking up as well as firmware upgrade. This seemed to work for about 1 month, but then slowness again. At the 5th master reboot, I found out that the memory cannot handle too many calendar entries - so the 6th time around, I tried to limit the calendar Yup, well that didn't work too well either b/c here I am again abojt 3 weeks later with a completely frozen Q9m - the phone will not unlock and is completely stuck. This is embarassing for the manufacuturer and service provider. Consumers are left in the dark - and even worse, technicians that have no idea how to address the issue.
On phone 1. 3 wks and this is the first time it's done it..... anything worked without loosing everything?
I also am having the same problem with my Q and it getting stuck on the Verizon logo. i have went thru 2 of them in 3 days and am going back tomorrow and im coming out with something else. The 2nd Q i had worked fine but had a few minor defaults (the battery level indicator didnt work) so i took it in and the tech told me it was some software update patches that weren't install so he installed them. well up until this install that phone worked fine other than you didnt know that the battery life was like. so i just did the hard restart and everything worked fine, so that should hold me over till i get out of work tomorrow and get into the store
I am going through the same issue of freeze up and Verizon Logo screen not going to windows. Trying to hard reset but nothing. It will not take the key combo. This is the third time this has happened and I have exchanged twice. I love the phone but these problems can't persist. I have asked the people at Verizon if they know what could be wrong but they are lost. Wished motorola would say something about it since I am not the only one with this problem. I have read the manual upside down.... I guess I do know how to use it.
Yeah mine does the same thing. it literally stayed on the verizon wireless screen for hours until it died.
This phone is cool but it keeps freezing up.
I tried all of the suggestions and none have worked. It continues to freeze at the Verizon logo page. I guess I will have to return my second Q9m within 48 hours. Unfortunately, they are unable to save any data that was entered from my original phone.
Im having an issue where i hard boot the Q and then the Verison Logo stays on my screen for upto 5 minutes. [email protected]
I HAVE THE SAME PROBLEM AS GUEST/SOLUTION # 3
It's battery died. Mine has done this three times now and it's terrible. You'll need to do a hard reset to get it back alive.
Pull out your battery, let it sit for a minute or so, then put the battery back in (or use the charger, either way works).
Turn it on by together holding down the middle button on the 4 way thing under the screen and the red button. Keep holding them until a screen pops up asking if you want to do a master reset. Press the left softkey above the 'home' button for yes. The phone should restart. The bad news is all your settings, contacts, etc will be gone. I'm using a program called Sprite backup on mine to backup everything to an memory card so I can just restore it when it's finished resetting.
My phone is plugged in and it won't even turn on... please help me. i don't know what else to do.
That's not good. Have you pulled the battery, reinserted it and tried again? Make sure it's not plugged into the charger. If it continues to hang on the logo, exchange it.

I have returned my first Q9m because it started freezing at startup with just the verizon logo on the screen. the service department could not fix it so they gave me a new one. Now in 48 hours my new one is doing the same thing.
I have gone through 4 phones at the verizon store with the same issue. The Master Reset works for a period of time, but then it happens again within two weeks. Very frustrating to say the least.
I am on my 3rd Q9m in 3 1/2 weeks! All for the same freezing issues with it getting stuck on the Verizon logo and not turning on. The people at the Verizon store claim they have "never seen this before". Each time they were unable to retrive any settings/contacts, etc.
the moto symbol is frozen on screen when i try to start the phone. the only way to start it i figured was to hold the middle button and the red power button at the same time and it master resets... the bad thing is it deleted all my contacts, but i had them backed up so...
Same problem - My motorola 9qm only goes to verizon logo....this is my third, verizon replaced the first two..."never saw this problem before...etc". Obviously this is a problem with many folks..Here is what appears to be the failure sequence:
1. The cpu goes to 100% or a high run rate without anything running. Normal is 2% or so.
2. The battery runs low and the phone goes into a big battery logo on the screena nd locks up.
3. Recharge leaves the battery logo on with no way to get mack to operating phone until charged and charger unplugged.
4. Then it wont start - it locks up on the verizon logo.
5. Master reboot is the only solution I have found.
6. So, master reboot >> center button and red start button together.
7. Then, cpu is back to 1%, but all is flushed,
8. Resynch and all contacts back in.
NOTE >> The Q9m with win 6.0 is a very unreliable device >> ALWAYS BACK UP DAILY!
GOOD LUCK!
When I try to turn my phone on it goes right to "Verizon Wireless" on the screen
My motorola q9 mobile logs on and after that it displays a black screen thats it it switches off and on but it shows only the black screen.
the only way to reset it is to hold the Red/Hang-up/Power button while holding the middle button on the arrow pad for a few seconds. Select yes to master reset. However, you will lose all of your settings and contacts etc.
I got a message last night that the battery needs replacement. I've had my 9QM since October 2007. I've had problems since then of it locking up & I've taken out the battery, put it back in, and it boots back up. Now it's mostly non-responsive and none of the keypad seems to work, it's very slow too.
