Re: Can't install xp pro on my HPnotebook core duo

Hi, I had that problem today to, chances are its a SATA hard drive, look for that driver, download it to a floppy, and load it with the F6 button at the start of the installation. Then it runs you thur the normal setup. Good Luck

First use the find the model link

find model

Then use the following link to find XP software should be two clicks away from one of the first three links

Find software

Windows NT based Operating systems permit the loading of drivers as part of the installation process. This is necessary on occasions where the hardware drivers are not present in the installation process provided by Microsoft. I have had to do this once in the past. When we see the software and drivers from the find software link above we may be able to determine which driver will need to be included in the installation process to allow you to load Windows XP.

We want to Downgrade the OP from VISTA to Windows

get the windows xp disc, press F2 to get into the bios and set the cd rom drive as the first bootable device.

Boot from the windows xp disc - wipe and re install xp as the operating system and then once installed update to at least SP2 and get the drivers for the network card if not already installed and it should be fine as long as you can get the relevant drivers.

Install xp vista linux

If you're trying to install all three operating systems onto the same partition it's creating a conflict, more than likely between Vista and linux. XP and Vista are similar enough and recognize each other, putting them in the same partition is ok, but try setting up another partition to install the linux to. I'm curious as to why you want or need all three on the same machine?

To start you will need a Windows xp installation disk and a valid licence number. After this you will need to download the Win XP drivers for your computer. If you want to keep both operative system, then be aware that Microsoft suggest not to install more than one Windows system in the same partition.

good Luck
