Test if you charger is working ???

you may test it with some LED , or some little bulb , to make it glow with charger...!!

----if charger is working , then most probably , its the FIRMWARE ISSUE with the player, and not the charging... means , you'll have flash its software again.. which you might have in the disc which came with the player.

-----battery issue(that a malfunctioning battery is v rare)

Try plugging it into a USB port on game console such as ps3 or WII. Not sure why but it works. :o)

My gogear is not working

  1. If your Philips GoGear is not turning on, the battery is more than likely shot. Open up the back of the unit by removing any screws you find, and then carefully removing the back. A guitar pick can help separate the back cover without scratching anything.
  2. Find the part number off of your battery and go to:
  3. Type in your part number and click Go.
  4. When your new battery comes in, install it in replace of the old one.
  5. When your GoGear is back together, plug it in to the charger and let it charge for about an hour before attempting to turn it back on.
  6. If you are still having problems with your device, you will need to contact Philips at: 1-888-744-5477, Monday - Saturday 9:00 AM - 9:00 PM EST, Sunday 9:00 AM - 6:00 PM EST Excluding Major Holidays

Please HELP!

If solution 1# does not not work try this then attempt solution 1#, I had the exact same problem solution 1# did not work until I did this first. Do a quick format on the player by right clicking the drive(drive J: for example) in my computer, and choose format, then check the box that says quick format. After this your player should be fully functional, but nonetheless follow the instructions to repair it completely as stated in solution 1#

My GoGear 30GB is not charging.

If your GoGear really is an HDD model, then it is incompatible with both Vista and Windows Media Player 11. If you have Vista, forget about this player. If you have XP, roll back your Windows Media Player to version 10 and try running a Repair in Philips Device Manager - the damage might already be done, but it is worth a shot.

If you have an SA model GoGear, get the latest Philips Device Manager from Make sure you enter your correct model # in the website, or you will damage your player. Run an Update in the updated Philips Device Manager to upgrade the firmware to fix the freezing issue. Philips has a weird quirk that if you want to really upgrade the firmware, you have to also update the Philips Device Manager first or the Device Manager from the CD will give you a false positive: "Your device is already up to date."

Nothing works

Does it say Philips and then go dark? If so, try pushing the reset button. Mine did this yesterday, because I did a complete erase. I had to push the reset a couple of times, then it started working again. I'm back in business, and listening to my songs as I type this.

Is your battery charged fully? Did you let it charge via your computer?

Help with mp3

If it doesn't work when unplugged and fully charged, that problem is not going to go away. You can do the Repair in Philips Device Manager, but it will erase all of your songs and it probably will not work. The problem is, Philips is all out of these players, and they no longer make any 30GB models - 8GB is the max.
