SOURCE: i need schematic diagram for toshiba L6450 s4030 for power solution

http://www.motherboardnow.com/Toshiba-Satellite-L645D-S4030-Motherboard-System-Board-Replacement-4C40P3847453

The above example is just from a quick search on the internet.
You may wish to perform your own search.

(Psst,..L640D )

Schematic for the power circuit traces on the motherboard? Not available to the general public. Only authorized repair personnel.
(No,...not me either)

However, with all laptops;

1) Power comes from the AC adapter, or the Battery.

A) Make SURE the AC adapter (Charger) is putting out the correct Voltage, with a multimeter set to DC Voltage.

For the Satellite L640D-S4030 Notebook PC, the voltage is 19 Volts.

(Center hole is the Positive connection. The outside cylindrical metal shell is the Negative connection)

B) DC Power Jack
The DC Power Jack is the jack on the laptop that the AC adapter connects to. (May be marked on laptop as DC IN)

Battery removed, use a non-metallic instrument, and see if the center pin, or outside shell, will move.
ANY perceptible movement means a problem with the DC Power Jack.

The motherboard needs to be removed, and the jack physically checked out, for it's mounting on the motherboard.

May be a damaged DC Power Jack, (Replacement), or the jack's solder joints may be cracked on the motherboard. (Resolder the jack's solder joints)

DC Power Jack checks out the problem is the power correcting chipset.
(Or a burnt circuit trace, { Or traces }, on the motherboard )

Do Not know what power correcting chipset is used on this model.
However I can give you three examples of commonly used ones.

Perhaps this way, you can use these examples to find the power correcting chipset on your motherboard.

(Power correcting chipset determines if;
1) Power is needed for the Battery. Is a trickle charge needed, or a full charge.
2) Also determines if the laptop battery is fully charged, and the laptop is to run off of the AC adapter )

A) http://www.utsource.net/ic-datasheet/KB926QFB1-1829416.html

B) http://html.alldatasheet.com/html-pdf/85156/VISHAY/SI4925BDY/183/1/SI4925BDY.html

C) https://docs.google.com/viewer?a=v&q=cache:oER5NNz8cwcJ:www.fairchildsemi.com/ds/FD/FDS6675BZ.pdf+Fairchild+FDS6675BZ&hl=en&pid=bl&srcid=ADGEEShOhWPjm_M-ROHme4iEMrztCTOd-28jNiy1hVLQQh_VOyv8zcXEVDB_iTQA6MuZO88UmRkDgjyW9j4CP2aIJ-4DS-h6JNM3lvxldeApQeecmz_DADCw1s7tmNLxfPknqX14SZP6&sig=AHIEtbS_rYUAeo_8rB9YHkW05ZjLqeH4Jg

The power correcting chipset is a Power MOSFET,

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Power_MOSFET

Replacement is fairly simple with good to excellent soldering skills, since these particular MOSFET's use J leads. (Prongs on chipset that solder to the motherboard)

HOWEVER, make sure;

1) That you use an ESD wrist strap, and have it's alligator clip attached to a good ground source, when working on a laptop.
An ESD wrist strap cost averages around $3 to $6.

2) That you connect a Heatsink tool, to EACH J lead as you solder it to the motherboard. (There are transistor/s inside the Power MOSFET)

Example of a Heatsink tool,

SOURCE: toshiba satellite c660 motherboard not power

When you connect the power adapter into the laptop, does the power LED light up? If not then - The battery adapter or the adapter's power lead or the laptop's power socket could be faulty. Check power adapter's DC plug that connects into the laptop power socket with a multi-meter, the voltage should be slightly higher than the voltage that is printed on the label on the bottom of the adapter. If the voltage is zero or way below the voltage that is printed on the label then the power adapter is faulty and needs to be replaced. If the adapter is OK then connect it to the laptop and power it up, then look at the power/battery charging LED light and wriggle the power plug in the laptop's power socket. If the power/battery LED light flashes and in a certain position this LED light stays firm, then the power socket is either faulty or it has a dry solder joint where it is connected to the motherboard. This can be repaired but it requires the laptop to be completely dismantled to get at this power socket and repair. If you cannot DIY then I suggest you get a quote first.

Need to reset the BIOS password, but don't know how.

Fastest way is to remove the bios battery, usually a 2032, while the computer is unplugged. Then press and hold the power button for thirty seconds. Plug it in and turn it on. The password should be removed. Some computers use a jumper pin that either has to move over one slot or be taken out entirely. The former works on laptops and desktops while I haven't seen a laptop that used the latter.

USB is USB is USB as they say. Universal Serial Bus so should work in anything compatible. I know from experience sometimes my Toshiba Laptop wouldn't read some USB drives but inserting them in a different USB socket and they would usually work.

Can you trace a stolen toshiba satellite c655d-s5200

Not that I know of.

You can install a tracking software in the computer, for in case it's stolen, but this has to be BEFORE it is stolen.

Rest assured whomever stole it will get their just reward.
Karma, you know.

My toshiba satellite C655D-S5200 isn't charging?

Your power cord may have shot its wad.
They are not expensive to replace--even order a spare if you are paying S & H anyhow.
More likely however is that you need a new battery. Those are a bit pricier!
