Hi,
The baffels are pretty easy to take out.
You will need a quarter inch nut driver.

First, you remove the top cover of the unit off by removing the 3 screws in the back. then each baffle will have 2 quarter inch screws and you can access them easily once the top cover is off.

Best of luck :)

What is making mywhirlpool/admiral electric dryer sound loud and thumping noise

You dryer belt may be shot and a piece of rubber is missing making it jump while working. Needs replacing before it completely quits. It will eventually just break apart.

Just before the spin cycle, there are horrendous sounds of metal clanging like cogs in gears slipping. What is happening?

either the drum bearings are gone {you need an engieer to do this and its a long and labourious job but extends the lifespan of the machine}

the pump motor has coins or other metal parts inside it {take out the filter and clean the whole pump even inside it look with a torch for any bits of metal} you may need to lay the machine down on the opposite side from the soap drawer
and take the hoze off the pump and check its traps
as some machines dont have a screw in filter tray

you could find there is wires from clothes inside the skin of the drum
perhaps the kids post to the soap drawer a toy car etc
this end up inbetween the drum and the drum outer skin
and will start to bang around when the drum moves to faster speeds
to clear this you need to fully empty the machine and then take the heating element out and fish around with long tweezers to grab the bits and pieces
something like this is the issue
i would let a service guy have a look
the bearings you can tell if you open the drum door and move the dum up and down left and right
if there is play in the inner drum then the bearings are gone

i bet its something inside that will float about when there is more water in the machine

Drum turns but sounds like a small metal object, possibly a screw, banging around inside . Continued to use and now sound is much louder and sounds like a bigger object.

DRYER MAKES NOISES.

The pulleys or rollers. Check for cracks, dryness, or damage and not engaging drum properly. Sometimes u can use high density gear grease to re oil/grease them.

The bearings TEST by moving drum by hand u may be able to feel loose or rough movement. And listen to sounds when turning it.

The belt loose or worn can make funny noises

The glides on drum worn and making metal to metal contact.

CHECK FOR LOOSE BELLOES inside the drum

Sometimes an item can get stuck inbetween the drum and the housing and scrape and grind making funny noises, things like coins, bra wire, nails, hair pins, etc sometimes u can just remove the cabinet and observe by turning the drum by hand or looking for scratch or scrape marks on housing.

Dryer making a grinding noise when turned on. How do you get the top off to check the barrel motor?

Clanging Sound
1. If the noise coming from your dryer can be described as a clanging sound, the solution is probably well within your grasp. This common sound is typically the result of loose debris accidentally put in with the load of laundry. Change may be left in pockets of pants or other objects may be dropped in the laundry basket by children --- perhaps a toy car. The objects may not be noticed when put into the wash, and the water in the washer may have dampened the sound. Simply remove these items, and restart the dryer to resolve the issue.
Sometimes the clanging is from snaps or buttons that are actually part of the clothing. If you are drying a jacket with metal snaps or another garment with metal attached, you should expect this clanging sound as they tumble and strike the inside of the dryer tub.
Humming or Whistling
2. Many Roper dryer models are equipped with a safety feature known as a lint signal, which is usually a light that often accompanies a warning signal, telling the machine owner that the lint trap has become clogged. When the dryer cannot pull adequate air through the lint filter, it can overheat and become a fire hazard. The warning alarm may sound like a hum or whistle to get your attention. Look at the lint signal light, clean out the trap and the noise should stop.
Thumping or Grinding
3. If the noise you are hearing can be described as a thumping sound or a metal grinding sound, the device that turns the dryer drum, known as the drum rollers or glides, can be worn out. As the drum turns, there may be a constant and rhythmic thump each time the drum rotates. A severely worn or broken roller could cause the metal of the drum to rub against the metal housing of the machine, causing a louder grinding noise. The rollers will need to be replaced to remedy the problem.
Squeaking or Squealing
4. Most dryers work by using belts to turn the rollers, which in turn make the drum rotate and tumble the clothes dry. When these belts get loose, a worn belt or a malfunctioning tensioner spring may keep the belt tight. In either case, belt slippage may occur and will produce a squeaking or squealing sound that is easily recognized. The problem is likely to be the tension on the belt since most belts will break before wearing out to this degree.

GE profile electric dryer, sounds like something is stuck in drum

Heating problem is most likely caused by one strand of your heating element is burned out. Heating element will have to be replaced if that's the case. Noise you are hearing is most likely coming from worn front and / or back bearing. Dryer has to be completely disassembled for either repair.

Loud rattling noise, but dries ok

The drum of a dryer is supported b the front and back of the unit, spins on a felt gasket. Noise is coming from rollers or their is something stuck between drum and the felts. The pulley is a piece of springy metal with a plastic wheel on it, could also be worn. If you take off front of dryer, drum will come loose, check to see if something is stuck. Common for loose change to get jambed in felts. Also spin rollers and pulley to see if need to be replaced. I still think something is caught in felt.

You may have had a foreign object slip under a loose drum baffle. Manually rotate the drum to locate wwhich baffle it is in.
