SOURCE: 2002 chryler sebring is leaking anti freeze

It depends on where the leak is coming from. If the water pump is leaking, it has a hole on the bottom of it. You will see a trail of dried anti freeze coming from the bottom of it, indicating a bad water pump. It's best to dry everything off, crank it up and let it come to operating temp and check for where the leak is coming from. It may just be an old hose or loose clamp.

Hey there Dave,

Had the same thing happen to my Wrangler about three years ago.
It was the weep hole too.

I drained the coolant, dried the weep hole and plugged it with a small amount of that solid epoxy they market to fix holes in gas tanks. I refilled the radiator and the plug held.

It's still holding.
Just an alternative option

You need to have a mechanic inspect for the leak. It could come from a hose...radiator...water pump...head gasket...intake gasket..thermostat housing... frost plug just to name a few

How to new when my water pump is not movihg water.

You won't know if the water is moving unless you removed the thermostat, the thermostat will remain closed till the car heats up and then water will flow through your raditor.
Water pumps always spin! Unless you belt has come off it will be spinning, What happens to water pumps is they will end up with a bad bearing and will get hot. There is a small hole in the bottom by the bearing that will eventually let the water leak out to keep that bearing from melting and seizing up. If you are not hearing any grinding noises or squealing or water leaking your pump is fine.

What you need to do is pressurize the cooling system, then you should be able to see where the leak is coming from.....There is a tool that does this pressure test.

If it is coming out of the top of the radiator, you are getting back pressure. First, make sure there are not puddles under the engine where the water pump is at. If so, you will need to replace the water pump and gasket; as well as the thermostat. It sounds as though the thermostat is stuck closed - replace it (if no leaks from water pump) and see if this fixes the issue.
Also, start the car (radiator full) and let run to operating temperature. Feel the top radiator hose - if it is not hot, but the engine is, then the thermostat IS stuck closed. Be sure to ask for a thermostat housing gasket when purchasing the thermostat, as they do not always come together.

probably the water pump. front and center of the engine, the pulley that may or may not have the cooling fan attached. from under the truck a leaking water pump usually leaves some coolant residue on the timing cover and at the front of the oil pan where the wiring harness come across.

Leaking behind water pump

If it is leaking behind it, you will need to replace the water pump and gasket. The new (can purchase a remanufactured pump, cheaper) pump will (should) come with the gasket.
Please let me know if you need assistance with removal and installation.

That is your thermostat gasket. Easy and cheap to replace. If you do it you might as well just buy a new thermostat since the cover will be off and they are cheap.

I have a coolant leak coming from the front of the engine. looks like it is leaking around the cam shaft pulley. The vehicle is a 2001 Nissan Frontier v6

Sounds like either the water pump or the thermostat housing. The water pump has a small hole in the bottom where the shaft comes through, when the water pump gets worn it will leak here so you know to replace the pump. The thermostat housing will be at the motor end of the upper radiator hose where it attaches to the motor. Hope this helps.
