Remove cap on top of agitator. Pull agitator up using both hands from the bottom. It may take a couple quick pulls. Check the splines on the shaft, or on the agitator. They are probably worn. Turn it 90 degrees and re-install and see if it is tighter. If not replace worn part.

Simpson Encore 605 agitator bolt comes loose - does it need loctite?

The wear is preventing it from tightening correctly, loctite won't be a long term fix, it will still come loose again due to the forces put on the bolt by the vibrations of the agitator. The only way to fix it is to replace the agitator.

My Whirlpool LSR8233EQ0 washing machine making loud whining and banging noises during spin cycle only...any ideas on what to replace?

Two possibilites would be a loose agitator (some agitators can betightened from the top, check for tightness)If you can't tighten the agitator from the top, turn the machine over ( you will probably need to disconect water hoses first) and check the underside. From here you should be able to determine if the agitator is loose or more likely you've got a loose drive belt.

Need to remove agitator to remove lodged medallion

Remove the agitator top cap, and unscrew the mounting bolt part way. Pull up on the agitator by both sides of the rim, then finish removing the bolt after the device is loose. (Keeps you from smacking your face when the agitator comes loose.) Hope this helps.

Remove the top cap on the agitator and see if the bolt has come loose. If it is not there, the agitator will come loose from the gear case shaft and free spin.

Agitator loose

Just reach down between the basket and the agitator, and lift really hard straight up. Be sure not to hit yourself in the head when it pops loose. GE agitators just snap on to the air-bell underneith. Be sure that bell isnt loose after you remove. Good Luck!!!!

Loose agitator Maytag LAT2600AAE

Look toward the bottom end of the agitator. There should be a small indentation where a 10mm screw is. This screw holds the agitator the the transmission shaft. Sometimes the screw works loose and needs to be tightened.
