Question about Kodak Digital Picture Frame

My Kodak M820 8

My Kodak M820 Digital Photo frame keeps saying that "avi video format not supported" even though the specifications clearly state "MPEG 1, MOV and AVI" video formats are supported. The avi video that I am trying to play is not a protected file and plays fine on my computer from the memory card. I bought this frame as a birthday gift for my Mother and the fact that I would be able to add clips from old family videos was a big selling point with me. Please help.

Yes avi should play on that.. but i think that kind of device(frame) is like some of the mp4s that includes avi in the features but will have problems playing avi type of files.... ... i dunno if this is useful coz i dont think i have the answers to correct it... maybe u can just convert the files in other filetype that your frame can read....

i read this from wikipedia

The AVI container has no native support for modern MPEG-4 features like B-Frames. Hacks are sometimes used to enable modern MPEG-4 features and subtitles, however, this is the source of playback incompatibilities.
AVI files do not contain pixel aspect ratio information. Microsoft confirms that "many players, including Windows Media Player, render all AVI files with square pixels. Therefore, the frame appears stretched or squeezed horizontally when the file is played back."[1] There are other video container formats that allow irregular shaped pixels.
More modern container formats (such as QuickTime, Matroska, Ogg and MP4) offer more flexibility, however, projects based on the FFmpeg project, including ffdshow, MPlayer, xine, and VLC media player, have solved most problems with viewing AVI format video files.

pls do update me if you've resolve the problem

The file is too big for the digital frame to process - at standard resolution (640 X 480), this frame can only handle about a 5 second video. Either shorten the clip or reduce the resolution or both

Cannot play videos in Kodak SV811 photo frame

Finally solved this one. My Kodak Sv-811 Digital Frame would not play any videos UNTIL I decompressed them. .mov videos are compressed, usually with mpeg2 or mpeg4 or h.264 methods. In Quicktime Pro (or any video conversion able program) under video options, choose "photo-jpeg" or basically no compression. The file is 3 times as large but it will play!
