Asus m2n-e sli Cpu changed settings on boots up

Hi
Ive had the asus M2n-E sli for just over a month, since ive had this board Ive updated Bios to the latest (1302)
Every time the pc gets to the post screen i get the message
'Warning your CPU has changed Enter CPU settings in CMOS'
Now im Not the dumbest of cpu Geeks & I do take pride in clocking up pc's to an art But for some reason im either having a Dumb moment now & i cant see whats wrong.
I Do Know i made a bad choice when i purchased this motherboard, It IS in my eyes the worst board for overclocking & I do admit it was the only board at the time In My fav shop.
There is one other problem i have at post screen.
Why doesnt my dual core 4200 show up ?(insted it just says Unknown)
Hope you can help

I have an upto date Bios ver. of 1302 for the M2N-E SLi

I did have ver. 0902 before & the reason i update again was tbecause the 0902 gave me the CPU had changed error.

I could not find BIOS ver. 1302 for the M2N-E Mb. What I do know: Your dual core 4200 showing up as "unknown". Asus says:
This is because the BIOS does not have the relative CPU uCode to support this processor. Please simply update your BIOS to version 0902 or later to resolve this problem.
BIOS 0902 can be downloaded from the link below:
http://dlsvr01.asus.com/pub/ASUS/mb/socketAM2/M2N-E%20SLI/0902.zip

Once you cpu shows up correctly, chances are that your over clocking will work and the bios will stop sending you back to change your settings.

I'm glade your on top of this. Your board is warranted for three years. You have done what Asus wanted you to. So here's their direct number. Bummer it's not a 800 number but it is worth it.

Their hours are EST M-F 9:00AM to 5:PM but many stay till 9:00PM. 812-282-2787 Tech IL. Everyone gets the automated voice stuff. Just follow the prompts.

Asus m2n sli motherboard

That single beep is most likely POST. Power on self test. You're board, Asus M2N-E SLI uses an Award bios. The beep error codes can be found at this link: http://www.bioscentral.com/beepcodes/awardbeep.htm
If you are using a single PCI-E card, check that you have the bios set correctly. Shown on page 4.4.6. Do you have you're memory in slot A-1 & A-2? Check that you have PCI-E set for primary display adapter, pg 4.4.4
For windows XP Pro with out SP2, please disale ACPI in you're bios. After SP2 & updates, you can turn it back on. It's realy odd that you're high power PSU did not come with an ATX 4-pin_12v connector for the board. (Needed for CPU).
This is a standard feature for current PSU's. Can you swap the PSU? Considering what devices you are running. You can easely run a 350w PSU? This swap would only be used as a test. Next test, go into the bios & go to Advanced, CPU configuration, check hardware monitor. Stay here a bit & watch temp settings.

Go over these suggestions. Let me know if any one of these suggestions has helped? Can you see the drive in you're bios?

Luck!

Motherboard Issue

Hi Tomokato,
This maybe nothing but the first thing I checked is the CPU.
Supported CPU list through Asus web site for M2N-SLI
(Click on this link). http://support.asus.com/cpusupport/cpusupport.aspx?SLanguage=en-us&model=M2N-SLI
The first supported 64 X2 is;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2
Second CPU supported;
Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (DD),1MB,65W,rev.G,SocketAM2

The CPU that you are using is not supported.
Since this is a new CPU, you might be able to exchange it for the Athlon 64 X2 3600+ (CU),512K,65W,rev.F2,SocketAM2.
Link to Asus main web site for M2N-SLI.
http://support.asus.com/download/download.aspx?modelname=M2N-SLI&SLanguage=en-us
Suggest you add the above link to you're favorites.

Even you're memory is not supported. As seen in user manual page. 2-13.

Have more questions, feel free to ask.

Mike
