My hoover steamvac optional tools won't fit.

I removed the block to attach the back of the hose into the recovery tank like it said and it won't fit all the way in and now it broke.

Don't listen to Solution #1, it is simply NOT correct. This is the correct answer:

As you stated, you already know where the water hose connection is. It is under the easily visible port cover on the top of the base.

What is NOT easily visible is the connection for the vacuum hose. That's because the machine needs to be "reconfigured" before the hose can be attached. To "reconfigure" the machine:
1) Remove the cover off the waste water tank and notice how things appear--it will soon be important.
2) Find and remove the "panel" on the front of the waste water tank by sliding it straight up and out.
3) Replace the panel with the connector by sliding it straight down. When finished the top should look something like it did in step 1). This assures that the dirty water will be vacuumed into the waste water tank.
Done!

That part to install in tank, is at the end of your hose. Take the lide off of the dirty water tank, on the front of the tank, there is a block that will slide out, then you can insert that part in its place. You have to have suction to make the brushes spin, so you just need to put the block on the end of the hose in the slot on the front of the tank. When down however, put that block you took out back, or your cleaner won't work right.

The original problem was, How do I attach the upholstery attachment to the cleaner. I see where the water connection is, but not where to attach the hose part.,

The solution to attaching the upholstery attachment to the Hoover Steam Vac cleaner was excellent for steps 1 and 2. However, in step 3, I can not simply slide the upholstery attachment straight down. It gets stuck and does not connect to the bottom connector and is stuck in midair. It seems like I am doing something wrong. My Hoover model steam vac model number is F5900-900.

The solution given in steps 1,2, and 3 where I have a problem with step 3 is as follows;

What is NOT easily visible is the connection for the vacuum hose. That's because the machine needs to be "reconfigured" before the hose can be attached. To "reconfigure" the machine:
1) Remove the cover off the waste water tank and notice how things appear--it will soon be important.

3) Replace the panel with the connector by sliding it straight down. When finished the top should look something like it did in step 1). This assures that the dirty water will be vacuumed into the waste water tank.

Press the handle release kick-button with your foot, extend the handle all of the way back, and take a look at the gap between the base of the unit and the handle/reseviour assembly. You should see several black hoses attached to the base and running up into the handle assembly. One of them (the dirty water return hose) might be cracked. Turns out that might be a common problem with this model. We had the same problem.

Judging by the interference between the vacuum hose and the "dirty water return" hose, there is NO WAY those two hoses can exist together in that housing without causing the dirty water return hose can last for many full bends of the handle. We opted to not repair our unit, but you might be able to do it yourself for the cost of the part and several hours of your time. Otherwise, seek out your certified Hoover repair center for more info.

With this model, check all hose connections and recovery tank lid. if you have good suction before you put on the tool it may be the tool that needs service. inspect the tube under the recovery tank for the round gasket and the filter inside the tank.

Hoover Superscub attachments won't work

It sounds to me like you have the water hose plugged in, but not the hose block. In the front of the dirty water return tank there should be a removable square plastic piece. Remove the lid and slide that piece out. Replace wth the back end of the hose receptacle. If you have already done this, then here is your problem: when you return the lid to the top of the return tank, you must roll it on from the front(there are brackets the lid hooks under) to the back and listen or feel or the "click" your tank is now ready to pick up the dirty water from your hose. let me know if this helps!

Instructions on how to put attachments on hoover steamvac to clean upholstery

Remove solution tank.
Remove hose from storage rack.
Remove recovery tank and lay cleaner flat on floor. Remove lid,
Now, remove front panel from recovery tank by sliding it straight up.
Take your hose and slide the U-shaped end (converter) into the place where you removed the panel. Slide halfway down opening until it is firmly in place.
2nd step: You should have a tube with a "plug" on it hanging from the converter end. Open door on hoodl abeled "Stair upholstery/Cleaning Connection". Extend black tabs by pulling tan collar toward tube. Press connector collar down firmly to ensure that it is fully connnected.
It's sort of like a childproofed plug and socket. Pull back on the collar and push in the olug. Not hard at all once you've done it the first time.
Make sure you put the lid on the recovery tank correctly so you have suction. Attach whatever brush you want to use on the other end until the tab locks into place.
Sometimes you have to bleed the air from the line by turning on the cleeaner and letting it **** against your hand or hard surface for 15 seconds before its ready to use. This gets the solution to flow to the tool.
Good luck!

  2. Remove the lid to your recovery tank.
  3. Remove the front panel of the recovery tank by sliding it straight up.
  4. Slide the convertor half way down into the same slot. (Curved side down). The opening should be facing upward.
  5. Replace the recovery tank lid.
  6. Open the door marked stair/upholstery cleaning connection.
  7. Press the tube connector with the black tabs onto the projection inside the door.
  8. Replace you cleaning solution tank and you are ready to go.
