Sounds like you need a new video card. Thank goodness you were able to retrieve your data. The new USB flashsticks are great for backups.
Good Luck

Latitude B130 screen works great then cuts out to complete black, works with external monitor

Are you sure that the display is not set for external monitor only? Also take bright flashlight and shine on the display. If you can see the images then the problem is with the back light and usually caused by a bad inverter. Some times you can get the back light or inverter bu most times it is easier and cheaper to replace the entire display.

The screen on my ASUS EEE PC 1005HA-MU17-BK just became blank. I used to connect it to a LCD, but the screen is also blank now. Please help me to fix it, or get the data from the hard desk at least. ...

if the both screen inputs are dead im pretty sure you have no way to recover form the netbook yourself.

dont lose hope though there is a way to recover your data.either remove your harddrive and obtain n external harddrive enclosure for your internal sata netbook hard drive.follow the instructions ad put the netbook drive into it and connect it to another machine. these enclosures can be around 80 bucks so if you go to a electronics store make sure you compare what models you find with that whats online.you could get a great deal. if thats too technical, the geek squad do offer a data transfer service for a fee onto anther external hard drive. its a more expensive option but it requires less hands on

Is there any way to retrieve data from hard drive before sending it to the HP repair center? HP laptop recalled. No monitor. External monitor does not work either.

The only way is to remove the hard disk from your laptop. It is usually easy. Remove the cover from the back of your laptop, take the hard disk, put it in a rack, then transfer the data on another computer.

HP dv9000

Hello jarkk, I believe your problem is with your backlight inverter. the hard drive should be installed for this process of checking it on an external monitor. with the hard drive removed it will not boot to the operating system. with the drive in, use the external monitor. if the monitor works when plugged into the external monitor plug, this will eliminate a bad video card. if the screen is still black on the laptop screen, replace your backlight inverter. the last case cenario is to make sure your backlights are not burnt out.
