Hi, Our daughter has a Samsung ES30 12.2 megapixel camera. I just put a new sd card in and it says Card Error, When you click on OK, it tells you to 1. Turn the camera off and on again, 2. remove and...

You need to format the card.
Insert the memory card into the system and this will be displayed as the mass storage device in my computer. Right click over the removable disk and then click format. It will format the memory card.
Then insert the memory card into the camera. Now the camera will not show the error message.

Hope this helps.

I have a Canon PowerShot G9 camera. When i plug it into usb cord to dowload pictures, i get the error message "Communication Error" across the viewing screen of the camera.

The problem I believe is the sequence or flow of the connection.
With the camera turned off. Connect the USB cable to a computer USB port and the other end to the camera digital port turn the camera on by using the "Playback" button here is a diagram

Place diagram here

You know there is an easier and better way of transferring picture files and that's by using a memory card reader. A memory card reader plugs into the USB port of a computer and the camera memory card is inserted into the reader slot. The computer then looks at this as an external Hard Drive. Both methods will need you to format the memory card after the images have been downloaded to the computer. Formatting the memory card in the camera in which it is to be used will clean the card and making it compatible with the camera both the camera and memory card can then communicate without errors.

"Communication Error" (That's for sure. Fuji camera HELP!)

I can only solve this for my camera. The USB cord provided me has a profile that is too big to properly connect to the camera. The camera will display USB when the cable is plugged in but then gives the "communication error". By taking the same cable and carefully inserting it then hold the camera carefully as not to break anything. Turn the camera on and then push really hard and hold it. After that my laptop saw it has a new device then figured out it was a camera. You might be able to ease up on the cable then but be careful it does not come out. From there I could see it in "my computer" and on the software provided with the camera. The cable seems a bit sensitive and I could not replace it with any of my other mini USB cables so I will have to search for a proper cable.

Hope this works for you.

When we plug the camera into the macintosh it wont recognize the camera

Well after a bit of trial and error, I found a somewhat consistent solution.  Here are the steps:
1.  While the camera is off, plug the USB cable into the camera (Don't plug the other end of the USB cable into the computer yet)
2.  Turn the camera on and press the mode button
3.  Navigate to the Camera icon
4.  Plug the USB cable into the computer (the camera icon will change to the USB screen)
5.  You will notice nothing happens!
6.  Unplug the USB cable from the computer
7.  The camera screen switches back to the Camera icon
8.  Plug the USB cable back into the computer and a VTech 773 icon should show up on your desktop.
9.  When your finished copying pictures to your hard drive, drag the VTech 773 icon to the trash.
I don't know why it works but it worked 9 out of 10 times for me.
Let me know if you find a simpler solution.

Try NOT connecting your camera to your computer.

The best way to download pictures from your camera to your computer involves removing the memory card from the camera and plugging it into a card reader (either built-in to the computer or connected via USB or FireWire). This is likely to be faster than connecting the camera to the computer, and won't run down your camera's batteries.

Once the card is plugged in, it will appear to your computer as a removable drive. You can use the operating system's drag&drop facility to copy pictures from the card to the computer's hard drive, the same way you copy any other files. Or you can use any photo cataloging program such as Picasa.

Memory Stick Formatting Error - Sony Cyber Shot DSC T-20

I have had the same problem. Contact your camera via USB to your PC. Click on MENU. You do see "USB Connect" and "folder" at the bottom. Make sure that it stays on "USB Connect" click on round button in the middle and you will get 4 options. It probably stays on AUTO. Select PTP and see what happens. Adobe Photo Album started up and I got to see the pictures till the moment that the stick got the format error. I lost a couple of pictures, but got a lot back.

I'm not sure what the problem is, however realized that if this happens again. Shut your camera. Start it up again. Go into MENU, SET UP, Memory stick tool, chnage Rec folder and create a new. This way you keep the folders smaller and do not loose that many pictures.

I hope that it helps.
