Try putting your usb keyboard in another usb slot and see if it works. If not get another USB keyboard and use that. Also make sure other usb deives are working so you know its a keyboard issue and not a usb issue.

My computer will not restore with the F11 key

Unless referring to the old legacy keyboard that you have already mentioned

Assume the USB keyboard was purchased & supplied with the Vostro 200?
If correct then it will have a USB 2.0 cable connector

Do not connect USB keyboard using indirect adapters/hubs etc.

Ensure the USB keyboard is connected directly to one of the USB Root Hub ports, (e.g. one of the rear panel USB ports) before you power on the PC

Does tapping the F2 key during boot loading allow access to System Setup (BIOS) Settings?

Ctrl+F11 will not work if you have previously done an XP Clean Install or deleted/modified partitions

If keyboard is OK then you may have to do a Windows XP Clean Install
Also note that tried to do a system restore by going into Start--> All Programs --> Accessories --> Systems Tools --> System Restore t
OR

If it is there you will have to start the computer, press F8,choose "Repair Your Computer"

What function key gives entry to cmos

BIOS is fixed program that starts up the computer. BIOS is initialized during start up of HP Compaq-6715B which sets the computer settings to be uploaded. BIOS enables the creation of a bootable diskette, CD, or USB key that can be used to locally restore or upgrade the System BIOS in the supported notebook models with a 68YTT Family ROM. Only insert the USB drive that will be used to format and create bootable BIOS upgraded USB media. However, you should remove all unused USB drives and flash drives from the notebook before. In order to ROM family and ROM date, press F10 on the target notebook during startup to run the setup utility.

The tips to get into the BIOS of HP Compaq-6715b are:

  • Press F2 for setup
  • Shows logo
  • Independent of OS
Press F2 for setup

BIOS often has a blue background, and uses the arrow keys, PageUp, PageDown and enter keys to change the settings. After you have got into or accessed the BIOS, you can change the boot order settings so that the floppy disk is checked first to see if it contains a bootable program. Usually a message will appear telling you how to enter the BIOS setup program as the computer starts up, such as Press F2 for Setup.
Shows logo

Your HP Compaq-6715b might be configured to show your computer's logo instead of important BIOS messages. In this case, you can press Esc or Tab while the logo screen is visible. If you are facing problems pressing the pause button in time, turn on your computer with your keyboard unplugged. In this situation you will receive a keyboard error, which helps you in pausing the startup process long enough for you to see the keys necessary to enter BIOS.
Independent of OS

The PCs with both PS/2 and USB connections are configured to only allow USB input after the POST. If you are using a USB keyboard, it could be impossible to access BIOS. You would need to connect an older PS/2 keyboard to your PC to access BIOS. The BIOS accessing is independent of any Operating System on your computer because the BIOS is part of your motherboard hardware.

if your keyboard is a USB connect that you have to set USB ports enable on boot from mother board Bios setup.
if not try another keyboard.
if connected to Keyboard, Video Graphic card, Mouse (KVM) switch better to check the connection if every thing is right.
boot the system and monitor the caps luck, numluck, light for flashing ones in during boot. if light flashes ones so extend wait time to let the drivers be loaded.

Cannot start bios even when presssing delete

might be a problem with your keyboard
try blowing out all of the dust from your keyboard using a fine air blower from an air compressor making VERY sure there is no MOISTURE in the lines.
dust causes static which causes lots of problems with a computer and its parts
make sure the lead connection is secure and dust free (if applicable)
make sure the usb device is inserted correctly into the usb port (if applicable)
restart your computer repeatedly tapping the f8 key to enter safe mode while the screen is black once in safe mode where the only things working will be your keyboard and mouse allowing you to attempt to repair your computer
the restart your computer again during the boot process you will see on the screen to press delete to enter setup
Press and hold delete during the boot up process to enter BIOS you can load failsafe defaults or load optimized defaults ,press escape then press f10 to save to cmos to restart
hope this helps you

The usb ports will not work, therefore the mouse nor the keyboard will work

Try the mouse in a computer where the USB ports *DO* work.

It is possible that your system does not have the correct "device-drivers" for the USB ports. Thus, those USB ports seem to be "dead".

Turn the computer off.
Connect a PS/2 keyboard and a PS/2 mouse.
Turn the computer on.
Click START
Click Control Panel
Click System
Click Hardware
Click Device Manager
Expand the "USB ports" section of the tree.
Look for "yellow" or "red" marks.
Double-click one of those "problem" devices.
Choose "Reinstall Driver".
If it asks to be able to connect to the Internet, click "yes, this time".
Hopefully, this will install the correct drivers for your USB ports.

USB MOUSE x PC BOOT

Could be a problem with your system BIOS, enter the setup while your computer is booting (before it gets to windows) by hitting the F12 key probably. Make sure that the boot order is HDD first, not something else.

Operation of computer while connected to F380 .

Hai

I understand that your Isue is "After installing the HP All-in-One software, the computer stops responding during start up when the All-in-One is connected and turned on. The computer will start correctly if the All-in-One is not connected or is turned off."

SOLUTION:

This problem can be resolved by changing the "USB Emulation" in the Computer BIOS settings.
If you are using a DELL Computer just follow my instruction below.

Caution:
If you are using a USB keyboard, do not disable “USB Emulation”, “USB Keyboard Support”, or “USB Legacy Support”. If the settings must be disabled, use a PS/2 keyboard

Changing the BIOS on a Dell Dimension computer
Follow the steps below to turn off the ability to boot from USB devices but still support a USB keyboard while starting. Contact Dell for assistance if necessary.
  1. Shut down the computer.
  2. Unplug all USB devices other than a keyboard.
  3. Start the computer. When the Dell logo displays, press the F2 key to enter the System Setup (BIOS) program. If the Windows screen displays, wait for the computer to finish starting up, shut it down, and then try again.
  4. Press the Down Arrow key to highlight Integrated Devices (Legacy Select Options).
  5. Press the Enter key.
  6. Press the Down Arrow key to highlight USB Emulation .
  7. Press the Space Bar until the “ No BOOT ” option displays.
  8. Press the Esc key twice to go to the Exit menu.
  9. Plug the USB devices back in.
  10. Ensure that “ Save Changes and Exit ” is highlighted, and press the Enter key. Contact Dell for assistance if the problem still exists

  4. Press and hold the ALT key while tapping the P key until a screen displays that includes the words “ USB Emulation ”.
  5. Press the Down Arrow key to highlight “USB Emulation”.

Change the BIOS on computers from manufacturers other than Dell If you do not have a Dell computer, contact the computer manufacturer for assistance. If the manufacturer does not know how to disable starting from USB devices, they may be able to change the order (boot order) of the disks the BIOS uses to start the computer. Move the bootable USB devices selection lower on the list than the computer hard disk drive. If you have any further queries or if the problem still persists, reply me.
