Hooking up home theatre system

Can't figure out how to connect reciever to my sony kvs hs420 hd tv

  • jobill5504 Jan 24, 2008

I cannot figure out how to connect my Zenith ZHD-311 to the cable box and/or to the TV. I can play DVDs with the surround sound, but would like to hear the TV through the surround sound. We have a Sony Bravia 36" HDTV going through a cable box which is not HD. How do we hook up the sound system to play through the TV which watching cable channels?

Hi,
Change/ reduce HDMI resolution in DAV-DZ810 so your tv can get proper video signal because it seems DAV-DZ810 is set on bit higher picture resolution and tv is unable to present that picture.
Thanks.

I bought a new Magnavox LCD HD TV and need an audio system

Their not showin it on this site, but go directly to the Sony site and look up the Sony Bravia DAV-HDX 285 system. Its an awesome inexpensive system (compare to other systems). Features everything you need including the reciever and 5 wireless speakers and 1 wireles woofer. I love the wireless stuff because your not trying to hide wires, it looks nice, and its easy to install. Hope this helps.

Multiple game systems through home theatre

what you need to do is hook all of your gaming systems into the "in ports" on your gameing switch, then hook the set of cables you want to use to the "out port" then the other end of those cables need to go to the "in port" on the home theatre system (you can pick which in port you would like to use, it should say which is which on the back by the ports) after doing this you need to find the out port on the home theatre system that corresponds with the cables you are using ie, rca component or hdmi. once you find that port you need to hook a cable to that into your 'in port" on your tv., lastly turn on all of your gaming systems, your tv and your home theatre system. and on your home theatre system select which ever port you hooked the gaming switch into, then turn your tv to the correct channel that you hooked the cables into the tv, lastly go through each swithc on your gaming switch to be sure that they all work, if not, you might want to use all the same cables for all connections, ie, all component all rca or all hdmi, i prefer component.

Need help hooking up TV, BluRay, Home Theatre & cable box

I found that since the Panasonic TH50PZ80U TV has only 2 HDMI ports on the back of the TV, the best solution for me was to use component (red, blue, green) cables to connect the Home Theatre to the TV. I suppose I/you could connect the home theatre to the HDMI port on the front panel, but I don't want cables hanging out the front of the TV (personal preference). Unfortunately, I am no longer able to use the VIERA Link functionality available by connecting all Panasonic components to each other using HDMI cables, but I feel it's a small price to pay for the incredible picture quality acheived by using the HDMI cable to connect the HD Cable Box to the TV. I may yet be able to control everything using the HD Cable Box remote, but I haven't gotten that far yet but I've got Comcast coming on Saturday and hopefully they can let me know if this is possible: let me know if you have a solution.

So here are the components and the cable types used to connect:
  1. HD Cable Box to TV: HDMI cable & Optical Audio cable
  2. Home Theatre to TV: Red, Blue & Green component cables
  3. BluRay Player to TV: HDMI cable
I hope this helps someone else.

Please help with getting 5.1 sound from my TV!

You must run a Digital Optical cable from your PS3 to your reciever. Then press your function button on your recievers remote until you see SAT/CABLE on your recievers display. Next go to your PS3 settings and go to Sound settings, then Audio Output settings, and select Digital out (OPTICAL) then your done. This is the only way to get true digital sound from your PS3 to your reciever.
