Thick black line on scanned document

Try to wipe the scanner glass clean with a soft lint free cloth.
If the "thick black line" also appears when making a copy, then there's something wrong with the scanner hardware. If this is the case, I highly recommend you to contact Lexmark Technical Support for additional assistance.

It might be caused by debris or marks on the scanner glass. Use a clean, soft, moistened cloth to thoroughly clean and remove any marks or debris on the glass. If the "black lines" still appear, reseat the cartridges in the printer. If the problem continues, contact Lexmark technical support. Thank you for choosing Lexmark.

Thick verticle line on copies and scans

Sounds like the issue is with the scanner bulb. May not be moving across or warming up to full capacity.

Make sure the scanner is plugged in directly to the wall and not into a surge protector or a power strip. If problem is still there and you are in warranty you will need to replace the unit. If OOW then you should call and see if you can repair or upgrade the unit at a discounted price. If you want to speak to someone in English tell them you want mac support - they are in Canada.

Black Line

Take glass cleaner and clean the small strip of glass to the far right. If there is a speck on that strip of glass it will cause a line when it scans.
