Question about Televison & Video
That is no firmware problem. Firmware is just the program that logically controls the tv (Preset, tuner control etc.). Snow on a plasma is almost for sure wrong voltage supplied to plasma screen (Volts too high). this will cause dots on screen with a kind of snow effect, while you still get raster.
The problem is fixed testing voltages, and doing service procedure from manual. When this does not fix the problem, then Sustain boards, buffers, AV input board, and digital controller board can cause the problem. Parts must be tested to find the problem.
On Philips plasma TVs the service procedure is different depending on the model. Therefore the service manual for specific model is needed.
Parts and service manual can be ordered here.
