Hp 5189 keyboard connection problem

I have tried connecting the wireless to th usb reciever, its just not picking it up or im doing something wrong.
I press the connect button on the usb, then push connect on the keyboard..... still nothing.
help much appreciated

Dumb questions: have you put the batteries in the keyboard? Have you installed the drivers?
If yes on both then try moving the dongle  to a better position - an USB socket to the front of the case.

Mine required the batteries to be removed and put back in, despite what the computer battery indicator says.
