  1. Unplug - Unplug the power cord from your computer. (We didn't do this before the first step, because the ground connection of the AC cord helps dissipate static electricity.)
  2. Open the case - Open the computer's case. Most frequently, this is done by removing screws at the rear of the case, and sliding the lid forward.
  3. Locate a slot - Find an open expansion slot at the rear of your machine. It should have enough room to accept the full length of the Ethernet card.
  4. Unplug - Remove the small vertical access panel that corresponds to the expansion slot you've selected, so when the card is installed, it's jack can be reached from the outside of the computer. Again, your computer's manual will have details on this. You may need to snap off a small plastic coverlet, and unfasten a screw that holds a small metal plate in place.
  5. Slide the card in - Carefully remove the Ethernet card from its static-proof plastic envelope, and slide it into the slot. Beware of the following:
    • The computer may have a plastic guide at either or both ends of the expansion slot, to hold the body of the card secure. If these are present, make sure the card slides in the slot easily.
    • Seat the card in the slot with firm but gentle pressure along the length of the card, especially right about the slot itself.
    • Make sure the card is completely seated in the slot, rather than partially seated. (You can check this from the side.)
  6. Secure the card - A small screw may be provided to secure the Ethernet card to the rear panel of the computer.
  7. Close up and reconnect - Finally, close the computer. Connect your computer to AC power, the monitor, keyboard, and mouse, as usual.
  8. Plug into the network
  9. hope this helps!!! good luck

Airport Extreme, Mac Cube and proposed Blue Ray /WIFI

Yes, you just need to connect the Airport to the modem. That way, the Airport will fetch the internet connection and distribute it to all your WiFi enabled device. You don't need any other hardware. You just need to configure the airport using your Mac computer.

The Dell 4500 uses an add-on PCI card for ethernet.
You may not have ordered this PC with one.

You can purchase a card for this system, if you are comfortable with installing additional cards into the system. The system is

Just got a new router (motorola) and airport will

Check your connections:

DSL-modem to telephone-jack (or cable-modem to cable-jack).

Ethernet cable from DSL-modem (or from cable-modem) to WAN port on your router.

Ethernet cable from LAN port on router to WAN port on your Airport.

Cut the power to the Airport, and then plug it back in, so that it restarts.

How TO connect XBOX360 to Back of computer and be able to use both at the samethime. Have DSL internet

Why connect the XBOX to the computer? Can you connect it to another port on the DSL router or do you only have one port for internet connection? If so get a DSL router that will allow you to connect multiple network devices. The router will have to be configured like the current PC so that it can connect to teh internet. Then you can connect your XBOX to one of the router ports and teh PC to another port. Your PC ethernet internet connect will need to be changed so that it uses DHCP.

a second option:
You PC probably only has one ethernet port that you are using to connect to the DSL. You will need to get a second ethernet card for the PC to connect the XBOX. Not worth the trouble or $$$.

Need to add Linksys WRT54G-TM wireless router with Linksys SPA 2102 phone adapter

your SPA2102-R seems to have one ethernet connection and one internet connection.
your WRT54G-TM seems to have one internet connection and 4 ethernet connections.

What you are trying to achive is; plug a ethernet cable into the ethernet connection on your SPA2102-R then plug the other end into the internet port of the WRT54G-TM

hope this helps, I have assumed that you intend to use a DSL broadband supplier not ADSL.

if you are changing service from DSL to ADSL then your WRT54G-TM needs to be first in line configured and working. then plug the internet port from the SPA2102-R into any of the WRT54G-TM ethernet ports.

Configuring DSL for All RJ-45 Jacks

the simpliest way is to have a wireless/ wired 4 ports router and install it beside your modem and locate where your Cat 5 cables central end is. Identify the Cat 5s that are connected to the 5 locations of your PCs if all of them are not capable of wireless connection you need to add a switch (4 port or 8 port) which you also need to connect to one Lan port of your router.

Hope this helps.

No, you don't need a card, as long as you have an Ethernet to USB adapter, you should be just fine.
