Question about Nintendo Wii Console

1 Answer

Green Light on, but nothing working.

Today i tried turning my Wii on by remote control. a screen popped up briefly that said something about damaged memory, but didnt stay up long enough for me to get details. then the Wii turned off.  When i hit the power button, the green light turns on, and the eject function works, but everything else is totally dead. the AV icon wont even disappear from the top of the TV screen, which leads me to believe that it isnt receiving ANY input at all.  ive tried the hard shut down. i left everything unplugged for 10 mins. no dice. PLEASE HELP.

Wii cursor not appearing on screen

Step 1:

First we should try to identify whether it is the sensor bar, The Wii, or the remote itself. So, let's start off by trying out the sensor bar. I would recommend you putting two (decent) sized LIT candles on both sides of the sensor, or try simply cleaning off the sensor. If the candle trick works, you have a bad sensor and need to buy a new one. If nothing changes and you're still in the same boat, then we'll try to see if it's the remote.

Step 2:

For the remote there's not too many things that can go wrong it, but we'll see if it's the remote. What you wanna do is see if the if the Wii remote has a dirty top to it (black thing on top). This will cause the IR camera to not be able to locate the sensor. If this fixes it then you'll save some money, but if it doesn't we'll try something else. Now, what we got might be a bad IR camera in which you have to buy a new controller (I suggest trying some neighbors remote or a friends to make sure this is the problem). Another thing that might be a problem is any secondary IR light source will cause interruption with the communication from the sensor to the Wii remote, but I highly doubt this is your problem.

Step 3:

Now, if all of these fail it is more than likely something with your Wii console and I would highly recommend you contact Nintendo Customer Service for they might have more knowledge than me about that. I hope that this helps you out!

My wii is hooked up properly, but when I turned the input to the right place the screen is just black. The Wii remotes will not connect at all even when charging and the wii console's light is green.

Have you checked to see if it might be your cables that are damaged? Did you mod your Wii? If you tried modding your Wii and now youre getting just a black screen it might have gotten bricked. Also try using it on a different TV.

I can turn my wii unit on with the remote, but cant turn it off with the remote. also I get nothing on the tv screen when I turn it on. we just got the unit today and I know nothing about it

Try switching the cables connected to the TV to your Wii, plug those 3 pronged cords into a different side. And about the remote thing, Im not 100% sure but i think you might have to open the battery compartment and press the red button to sync with the Wii.

Power light is green but nothing on the screen

Check the AV cables may be not connected right or the AV cable is broken.

Wii light is on but the Wii won't function.

Try the Wii "RESET".
Here's how:
1. Unplug the Wii for at least 5 minutes.
2. Plug it back in.

Power is on but screen is black

I found this [temporary] solution at

(via email, thanks Steven) This happened to me once, but I fixed it. Here is how:
Eject the disk
Unplug the wii at the back
Wait 1 minute
Plug it back in
Turn it on from the remote
Press reset if it does not show up
Hold the power button to shut it off
Turn it on once more.
I don't know how, but it seemed to work for me. The problem happened when I was trying to load the Mii channel. Hope this helps !

(via email, thanks Andrew)
The first time I shut down my Wii, the light went orange (as it should). When I turned on the power with my wii remote the next day, the wii\'s light turned green but the screen was black.
The treatment was the same as from Black Screen, No Connection: Unplug the Wii\'s power supply unit, then replug; turn system on with wii remote.
The difference is: this problem can strike in more places than just by loading the Mii Channel. Also, I think the green light being on (yet there being a black screen) is a common symptom as well.

DS Powering On

Hi, if the bottom screen briefly comes on with a white screen. There is a issue with the top screen, it is either the top screen itself or if there is damage to the hinge it will more than likely be the cheaper option the ribbon cable that threads though the hinge to the top screens PCB board.
