I can not get my dlink wbr-2310 router to connect

I have my dlinkwbr-2310 router set up on my main pc, and I can connect to the internet. I then try to "add my laptop" to the network, via NETWORK Magic. I recieve an error message that says, "Router is broken, check ethernet cable." I have check and re-check to cables to the cable modem, to the router, and power down both units. Still I can not connect, " no wireless network in range" I look at my network connections and my LAN is not connected, and same with the wireless connection. "DISABLE" on both connections. I then "enable" both of them and I still can not connect. No network in range. What can I do? I want to return it, to the store, but I thought I would see if anyone has any suggestions...

Try to setup a wirless network thru xp sp2 in the control panel.
Make sure you use the mac id from your router as the password.
Only enable one.

Whgen you're in you'll find many checkboxes you could fill oput or notr; Easyway: give your net a name (SSID), then choose the network access security (set it to wpa-psk), choose a password and enable DHCP (then the router does the rest). Xplornet Sat. connection and D-Link WBR-2310

Can you get a pc to connect to the internet? If you can, what IP address does HUGHES assign? If it is in the range of 192.168.0.X then change the DEFAULT GATEWAY address of the router to something like 192.168.10.1 (out of the box it should be set to 192.168.0.1)

Dlink WBR 2310 cannot connec to internet

Try to bypass the router and connect to your modem. Make sure you have Internet connection.
>If you have Internet connection. connect back your modem to the router.
>access the configuration page of your router.
>If you are given a specific IP by your Internet Service Provider, use that one.
>Login to your Dlink (type in on the address bar 192.168.0.1)
>Click Setup and Internet > Click on Manual Configure
>My Internet connection would be Static IP
>Type in your IP address, Subnet Mask, Default Gateway, Primary and Alternate DNS
>Click on Save Setting on top.

but if your Internet Service Provider did not provide you those informations
> Under My Internet connection Type choose DYNAMIC IP
>Click on Clone Your PC MAC address
>Click on Save Settings
>If it ask you to reboot, click on Reboot.

>At the very top click on Status
>Under Status look for WAN
>Under WAN look for IP address
>If you have values beside from zero it means you have Internet connection otherwise, call your dlink manufacturer for manual configuring your router for Internet connection.

Dlink router

what is your connection to the dlink router look like, plz define. If you think your connection settings are fine then try resetting (do this if you do not care about the settings on the router) the router to default settings by depressing the small hole at the back of router for few seconds and it will refresh the router to default settings. Try connecting now to an ethernet cable and it should work if not then you have to go into router settings and match the ISP provided settings for modem to work in the router configuration. For going into the router make sure you have the manual for it:
http://www.dlink.com/products/support.asp?pid=478&sec=0
select the model and download the manual as well as any firmware.
Hope that helped
