There should be a 3 inch by 8 inch cover on the right rear of the top of the dryer. Open the lid, grab the handle and pull the long wire mesh filter out. Clean off the lint and reinsert, curved side down.

SOURCE: remove lint holder on ge front loader dryer

I have the exact same problem. I am amazed at had been the engineering is for such a simple process. The user guide just says to clean the lint filter. Even when doing so, there is still an excessive build up of lint beyond reach. There are no instructions that mention how to clean this part. It is obvious that GE did not test this part of the machine.

How to remove panel to clean out lint for GE electric dryer model DDC0580BBLWH

most ge dryers you unplug it,open the door and look up you'll see two phillips screws there, remove them and then slide the top panel to left to remove it,then remove two screws on front panel, move front panel to the left, now you can clean out the front panel where the lint screen is,if you have a shop vac set it up to blow and blow all the lint in the cabinet up to the front so you can vac it up,this way you don't have to remove the drum,if you do remove the drum vac out the back side of the drum,if you don't want to remove the drum look inside the drum,if you see lint there vac it out through the holes, then set up the vac to blow and blow through the holes in the back of drum, vac up any lint you see, then remove the vent line,if it's a long run stick a leaf blower into the line and blow it to the outside, when you're done start the dryer,go outside and make sure the air is blowing out strong,if not check the vent line again.hope this helps you out.if you go to order parts the number you sent doesn't come up,if you remove the wh it comes up.

How do I clean the lint from the dryer drum paddles?

They are connected to the drum which means you have to disassemble down to the drum and remove and clean. Its a major job so not sure you would want to tackle.

Caked lint in narrow space between the front lip of the drum and a rigid circumferential lip in front of the drum lip. How to remove

You must take the whole machine apart and clean it. On most machines, you will start by removing the top, then the front.
I have cleaned over 2 full shoeboxes of lint out of 4 machines in the last 3 months, and I mean each of 4 machines. Some machines collect lint no matter how often you clean the screen.
Be blessed.

Clothes smell after drying

I don't think the problem lies with the dryer, I would suspect the washer has mold, this is especially true on front load washer, they make products designed just for this problem, check with a large retailer, not sure who makes the mold and mildew remover, I think Home Depot or Lowes may have the product or know about it..

My dryer is squealing when it turns. Want to get the back off, but don't know how to. Can you help?

You don't remove the back of your dryer.

Your problem sounds like drum rollers have flat spots on them or in need of lubrication, or maybe your drum belt has slipped off of the idler arm pulley.
If you have a front loading machine.
Note: This method works with most front loading machines.

Remove the electrical console that holds the timer switch, start switch, etc. from the top of the dryer.
Note: Some tops hinge and tilt backwards so they do not have to be removed and the electrical consol with stay with the lid.
Also remove the lint filter and the screws holding the lint filter housing in place.
Be REAL CAREFUL not to knock any of the wires off of the timer switch. Then remove the top of the dryer.
Remove the front of the dryer. This will expose the drum and belt. Remove the drum and belt and this will expose the drum rollers, idler arm pulley and motor.
Now is a good time to check the belt to see if it has slipped off of the idler arm pulley and also to check the belt condition for wear.
Be sure to note the route of the belt, this will come in handy when you go to reinstall the belt.
Check your drum rollers for flat spots or wear, if they have flat spots or wear on them replace them.
If the drum rollers don't have flat spots or wear on them then they probably only need lubrication. Lubricate the shaft of the rollers with a good grade of machine oil such as 3 in One oil. Reassemble the dryer, plug back in. This should solve your noise problem.

How do I remove the front panel? I need to vacuum out the lint build up inside the dryer. Also, something has fallen down in the dryer and the drum is hitting it when it rotates.

Hi, to clean all of the lint build up, you have to get behind it and remove the back panel to expose all electrical, motor, and lint. As far as something getting into the drum, it would have to get inside from inside the unit only, as the drum is solid on the side you can't see. You have air holes for the heat to come in and a button may have went into the drum and has no way out. At the back of the dryer where the vent connects to the drum, well it is a chute that the heat is blown into, you may be able to pull this back and get in side at the bottom of the drum to see if you can feel around, but unless there is a panel built into the drum on this model, it will have to get lucky and fall out inside the drum again. I would look the drum over good when you are back there cleaning and rotate the drum by hand to see what might be there to excess that part of the drum. Please keep me posted and let me know if you need more help as I would be happy to help you.
PS, Please be careful as it is very high voltage, so make sure the breaker is off and the unit is unplugged. Thanks.

I have been getting brown streaks after drying clothes in my whirlpool dryer. they are about an inch long. My dryer is about 12 years old. Is it worth getting new drum seals or ghetting a new dryer?? (...

Try cleaning the entire air vent system of lint first including the exit vent panel (to the outside air). Remove the lint screen and wash it in detergent and hot water. The brown streaks are probably scorch marks rather than oil or grease entering the drum. Good air movement is essential to holding the drying temperature down. Hope this saves that old Whirlpool for another decade!

Drum seal replacement

Hi. You need to remove the two screws located under the lint screen lid. Now take a flat screw driver and pry upward between the top and the front panel. Now you look inside upper corners and you will see two 5?16" screws. Remover them and the front will lift up off the clips at the bottom.
Notice the belt and how it threads through the idler pulley and goes on the drive motor pulley. It can be difficult so look closely.
I hope this helps. Please let me know if I can assist you further.

How to get into the cabinet? I have a Kenmore Dryer that hums but the drum won't turn, maybe belt! Model # 110 62942100 thanks, tom

Kenmore dryer belt

  • remove lint filter
  • remove two screws in lint filter panel securing cabinet lid to filter frame
  • with putty knife or other blunt blade, depress clips ~2inches in from the front corners of the lid to release cabinet lid
  • tilt lid up
  • remove 1 screw from each side 1/3 the way down
  • remove cabinet front and door
  • motor bearings tensioner are all visible

  • lift out drum forwards
  • check support rollers felts and nylon glide bearings for wear
(worn bearing surfaces are the most common cause of belt breakage, and you dont want to do it again next month)
  • make sure tensioner is still installed in cabinet base, sometimes breaking belts pull them out
  • loop belt around drum at prior wear marks
  • reinsert drum
  • pull tensioner to end of travel against spring
  • loop belt around motor pully and tensioner
  • relax tensioner
  • rotate drum by hand to make sure belt wont jump off.
