Question about GE GDS18LBR Bottom Freezer Refrigerator
The first thing to check on your model is the defrost timer found inside the fresh food section and behind the control panel where you adjust the temperatures. Look for a small opening about the size of a pencil. Most times the hole is covered by a plastic plug and all you need to do is pull the plug out and with a flathead screwdriver turn the timer clockwise slowly until you hear the compressor stop. It should remain off up to 25 minutes and come back on itself. If not turn again slowly clockwise until the compressor restarts. During the time the compressor is off you should be able to open the freezer door and hear sizzling and crackling. That would be defrost taking place. I have some photos and locations I will place here next to help guide you on this, Sea Breeze
