Question about Mitsubishi WS-55859 55" Rear Projection Television

Open Question

Timer light flashes, TV won't turn on.

I just moved the TV from one house to another. It was working fine before. Which is the DM board? Which capacitors need to be replaced? I can buy and replace them myself. I am an electronic engineer.

Thanks for your help,

Kevin

It is definitely a WS-55859 according to the label on the back and it definitely has a DM module. When I plug in the TV the timer light flashes and never stops. If I hit the reset switch it stops until I release the switch and then it flashes and never stops.

When you say unplug do you mean plug in? When I unplug the set the timer light blinks for about 5 or 10 seconds and then stops. I have already removed the caps from the DM power board and checked the pico fuses (fuses are OK) I ordered new caps from Digikey, they will be in on Wednesday. I will let you know if that fixed it then.

I have removed the metal box which is to the far left as you are facing the back of the TV. I removed the metal shield and removed the "DM power" board and removed 7 1000uF caps. They are not bulged or otherwise show any other signs of a problem. The fuses (2A and 4A) check out ok. I am waiting for the new caps to arrive from digikey.

I got an email which says there is a solution posted for my problem but when I go to it there is nothing relating to my problem.

OK, let me know what happens---FYI---if you cannot fix it there is a national company called PTS ELECTRONICS who repairs/rebuilds this unit---they fix and sell all kinds of circuit boards---You can find them with Google---I had someone 100 miles east of me in the desert with the same problem you have--(I don't make house calls that far away) He removed the box and shipped it to them and they repaired it. If it comes to PTS find there phone number or email them with what you have for a quote for repair/rebuild. SD TECH

Google the model number---the receiver is what you may be calling the DM assembly---there are 4 1000 mfd caps that buldge up and also some pico fuses inside of it----you need to remove the entire receiver from the set and take the metal shield off----if you google the model you will see what to do. I just reread your post--if you unplug the set and the timer light blinks without stopping--you have a set with a receiver built into it(if the set is unplugged--the light should blink for about 70 seconds and then stop) if it does not the bad caps and or pico fuses are located in the receiver--if this set has one it is the large metal box(as you look from the back of the set) on the far left side.

First, if the model number is WS-55859 it does not have a DM board--confirm actual model number to me and what set is doing--I am here to help---The model number in the photo you selected is a crt rear projection set made in 2001.

Mitsubishi TV green flashing timer light after power outage.

You will need to cahnge the capacitors on the DM board, very common problem. The V21 V19 DM repair kit at the following link contains the replacement capacitors and detailed instructions. Its listed under the repair kits catagory at the following link.

I turned on the TV but just got a black screen but could hear audio just fine. Turned the set off and unplugged it. When I plugged it back in the green timer light started flashing and would not stop...

Nonstop blinking is likely a DM or format board - format board most likely. I have rebuilt several of these by simply replacing all the caps, about 70 of them, and takes about two hours start to finish... But this set does need to boot. It takes about 70 seconds of flashing green light before you're able to press the power button - even when everthing is working as it should..
Hope this helps!

Timer light did not stop flash

Lamp is not the issue. It most likely is a your DM card. You most likely have some capacitors that need to be replaced. This is a terrible issue with this unit. Do a google search for "DM" and the model number and you should see hundreds of posts.

Mitsubishi hdtv1080 won't turn on. green timer light flashing

could be a lot of things really. when you replace the bulb, there is a switch that will prevent the tv from turning on if the cover isn't sitting correctly, by moving it that might have shifted so it would blink, but not turn on. if not, well get it serviced, sorry

Timer light flashing

The capacitors wont always show any outward signs of being bad. But it the LED blinks constantly without stopping thats telling you the DM isnt completeing the boot sequence. So most likely the capacitors are bad. But dont put the same ratings back. go with 1000ufs @25V but make certain they are the 105 degree celcius capacitors. If you need further assistance let me know
