Canon ip1700 will not power on. The power cord is plugged in to both the wall and the printer.

Thanks for returning my problem request. I'll buy a power supply and try that.

Sometimes the plug in the back of the printer comes loose, so please check that its in all of the way. Also if you are using a power strip, plug the printer directly into the wall to test in a known good socket. If all of that is done and its dead with no light on the front or anything, you must have a bad printer with a bad power supply. It's usually a cord issue however.

If this is new printer, the info below is relevant; don't know how to help if it's worked before OK. If you've had it on, in one place for a long time then moved it, you might find this useful, anyway.

I suggest you have a look at the Easy Setup Instruction sheet that came with the printer - it has pictures showing extra steps. There appears to be a packing tape within the printer that holds its guts together until unpacked, and a switch on the top.

Manuals and other support info for this model are accessible from Canon site:
http://canon.com.au/products/printers/colour_bj_printers/ip1700.aspx

Enjoy the printer, the PIXMA series print quality is really good, though the cartridges cost a bomb.

Cheers.

We had a power outage, now pixma Mx410 won't come on, any ideas?

Is pinter plugged into a power strip? Try plugging directly into wall. Make sure wall outlet is working correctly, try another item in plug in. Does printer have a power module or brick that is plugged into printer? That power module is there to protect your printer during a power surge, it may need to be reset. Is there a light on that brick or power module? If so, does it light up? If not, could be a bad power module. There is no such thing as "reset" button, so don't look there...It will have to be reset in a series of ways for an "external" module.
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, or surge protector.
  3. If the printer uses a power module with a detachable power cord, disconnect the cord from the power module.
  4. Wait 15 seconds.
  5. If the printer uses a power module with a detachable power cord, reconnect the power cord to the power module.
  6. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  7. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge protector.
  8. Check to see if the power module or the power cord has an indicator light and if it is on
For an internal module:
  1. Disconnect the power cord from the rear of the printer.
  2. Unplug the power cord from the wall outlet, power strip, or surge protector.
  3. Wait 15 seconds.
  4. Reconnect the power cord to the rear of the printer.
  5. Plug the power cord directly into a wall outlet. Do not use a power strip or surge protector.
  6. Check to see if the power module has an indicator light.
Not sure if this will help you..but worth a try.....

List of things to try when receiving paper jam error:

1) Paper is indeed jammed internally: Power Off. Open the cover and remove the paper or scrap carefully. Do not touch the internal printer parts. Close the front cover.

2) Load paper correctly according to your manual. Use recommended paper and obey load limits.

3) Foreign objects in printer: Power Off. Open the paper support and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the auto sheet feeder. (Remove it by hand or with tweezers). Open the front cover and confirm that there is not any foreign material in the unit. Avoid touching the inner workings of the machine.

4) Reset the printer:
  1. Turn the printer off with the Power button (if available).

  2. Disconnect the data cable from the printer (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared) .

  3. Unplug the printer's power cord for approximately 10 minutes, and then plug it back in. If troubleshooting a communication issue, reconnect the data cable (not applicable to WiFi, Bluetooth or Infrared).

  4. Turn the printer back on.
If all of these suggestions fail, your iP1700 may require repair service.

My 2ooo pixma does not turn on as if there is no electricity. Checked out power supply and it seems to be working.

Canon support says to unplug power cord from back of machine and the wall, and then reconnect. Try another wall plug. Try not using a "power strip".
