Question about Microsoft Video Game Consoles & Games

1 Answer

So I started my xbox up one day after a night of gaming. Given there was an eleven hour window of it not being used; it was rather cold (room temp). I went to turn it on via controller, and I noticed that it didn't. The fans started running for approx. 5 seconds, and then they turned off. So i instinctively walked over to the Xbox (which is wired to a very open entertainment system opposite of the tv: where the couch does not face). I was getting 2 red rings; and took the time to look up the problem. EVERY TIME i start my xbox, it runs fans for 5 seconds (gets no response video/audio), then the fans turn off; and continues to show 2 red rings. What can i Do to fix it? My warranty is already expired, and void (as i have tried many things because my warranty is expired). Nothing seems to work! What is going on? I want to know more than an answer... I want to understand WHY!

I was looking to fix it myself; but i dont want to buy a "repair guide"... i want someone who has half a mind as to what is going on to explain. I'm not "computer stupid" I'm just at my wit's end!
I know what all is getting power; I know what all needs power, I just can't seem to figure out why my motherboard is sending a heat error...
(the "why" part of my question is so that I'm not posting back up on here again...)

The simple answer to understanding why is becuse there has been a design defect in the Xbox 360's for a long time. Do you want to fix it yourself or do you want someone else to fix it for you?

I can tell you why...because Microsoft made it and they tell you not to use a fan (because it will void your warranty) but if you don't the system overheats and you get the two rings of for the solution. Whatever you do, don't send it to Microsoft for repairs because it could take weeks and all they do is send you a different refurbished one that will probably break faster than the one you had.

You can try and fix it yourself:

or take it to a person that works on computers, more than likely they have fixed many. Xbox's are just like computers and I have had the pleasure of fixing more than I would like too.

Hope this helps!

Tony hawk shred board will not calibrate on my xbox s console. tried it for hours everyway I can think, any suggestions?

My husband was ready to throw this game out the window instead of returning it because he was so nice for our 10 year-old on Christmas morning. Researched online and lots of people said putting two older batteries into the board with two of the new ones. We did that and also had to move the couch into the hall and then it finally calibrated!! Don't give up keep trying everything but the two older batteries helped. Once it was calibrated we moved the couch back and it seems to work fine. So far it seems like a cool game!

I want to program my 360 to shut off at a certain

If your wondering if there is a timer built inside you can set unfortunately there is not. You could use a timer for the plug to only turn on during certain hours of the day like they use for Christmas lights.
Hope this helps.

Door left open, now fridge won't work right.

Shut down the fridge for 10 - 15 Minutes and leave the fridge door open, and push the Defroce button
ANd start the fridge again and after some time check the temp.+ after some time.

Creda Night Store Heater model 79154

The dial on the wall with 1-24 on it, with the red pins, is the timeswitch to turn the heater on for night-rate hours (when the electricity is cheapest). Hour 1 is 1am --> Hour 24 is midnight.
Set the red pins to turn the heater on from 11PM (23) to 7am (7). The 'on' symbol is normally a '1', with off being '0'. Otherwise, on can be symbolised with a staright line with circles on it, while off is like a little barrier-arm part up.
As for the knobs on the heater, one is for the amount of heat which goes in (how much the heater 'charges'), and the other is for how much it lets out.
Genrally in winter you set the input (nite-store, second knob) to full (6), but in spring or autumn you may reduce this as required.
The other knob (room temp) is for how much heat comes out of ther heater. If you work during the day, you will want to conserver the stored heat in the heater.
Turn the room temp knob down to about 3 when you leave for work, and wind back up to 6 when you get home. This will stop all the heat leaving the heater during the day (and maybe use less power to recharge at night).
Good luck with the time switch. Check your night-rate hours on your power account.

Xbox 360

Well thats very hard to do, the problem is that the xbox is overheating, more specific the GPU, thats why it freezes. The easy way would be to open your xbox an leave it that way, I have a xbox that works just when is all open with the parts expose. Very strange but it works. Also put some new thermal compound on your GPU and heatsink.
You could make the room where you play very cold so the xbox will not overheat or put some big fans near the xbox hoping they cool it down. Or stop playing like 15 minutes every 2 hours so it cools.
