I want to install vista ultimate. I started installing it but after few minutes 'some files are missing' is displayed. what to do?

It means its having trouble reading the DVD. Try giving it a clean, or burning another copy (preferably on 1x burn speed).

Failing that it could also mean a problem with the drive itself. Could you replace it with a spare maybe?

Hope this helps.

Vista & xp in single dvd

Hi,
To burn Vista and XP on one single disk you will need a double sided DVD so you can burn Vista on one side and XP on the other.

There is no other way to get 2 install packages of separate operating systems on one side of the disk because the disk will not boot if you select to boot from the CD/DVD drive before the computer boots the OS.

You can put both OS's on one side but they will be executable from within the operating system, even then when the computer restarts it still won't boot.

Regards.

Unable to Boot

I think you burn into CD\DVD is incorrect. Recopy any Software is OK using ISO, but to find out that your burn that into proper ISO also, It will not work. To burn is again is extracted from ISO back to Bootable Windows Vista DVD.
Here is a a tip, use another program like Nero to burn into image, the file is .NRG or .ISO...
Or for easy tip, try COPY DISC for assurance that it will run again as is.
Good luck!

Vista Ultimate Copy

Have you tried to burn by disc copy? If you have, you need to also try and make an iso image.

Use DVD-R discs as well. If you have already tried this, just post a response and I'll get back to you.

Now double click on dvd drive and you get a blank page page the folder you wann burn on this page and on the left window pane you get an option write these files to cd. A new wizard appears and you system will burn the cd. For any additional burning you need a nero version

I have an Acer Aspire 5100 laptop with a Matshita cd/dvd r/rw combo (uj-850s), and it performs all funtions except read a virgin dvd. And I also cant seem to find firmware update for it anywhere on earth....

What operating system are you using? Xp? Vista? Which version of XP/Vista? Home, Pro, etc.?

Blank disks cannot be read for the simple reason that there is nothing on them to read.

If you wish to burn a disk, you need burning software, such as Nero which is a professional burning system, but also a free program such as AmoK / Ultimate CD/DVD Burner / or Sun CD/DVD burner (make sure to uncheck the ads box during install to prevent ad displays)

The above have different capabilities, but what you need is a piece of burning software in order to write to a blank disk, so depending on what you need to burn, you may choose from above, seek out other software, or purchase a burning system such as Nero.
