Question about Mitsubishi WS-55511 55" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

Mitsubishi ws-55511 does not turn on

Hello, I am going to help and fix friend of mine's Mitsubishi WS-55511. when you initialy turn it on, the green light comes on the tv and right a way goes off (note, green light does NOT keep blinking, just on and then off once). tv will not stay on at all. Could you please tell me what could that be? if it is the power board, what goes bad on it so i can replace them all. Also, where exactly the power board is located?
Thank you very much for your help and time.

Hello, We tried to do what you mentioned by holding the bottons to access the diagnostic. However, tv will not stay on long enough to go to self diagnostic. as soon as we turn the tv on it goes off. we tried to hold the bottons before turning the tv on and still the same, it goes off right a way. sorry we can not get any codes when tv shuts off this fast.
Any other sagestions or help you can provid, i would greatly appreciate. Thank you.

Thank you SD. I posted a comment (POSITIVE AA++) about you. I really appreciate all your help. If you please email me the instruction, I would appreciate it. By the way, do I need to replace any "resitors" as well around STK chip? I am not located the pico fuses yet, I have fund the STK chip though. FYI, I have already taken the entire borad out of the tv to clean and work on.
    Thank you VERY much.

this model has a self check or diagnostic feature; when it shuts off hold both the MENU & INPUT buttons (ON THE FRONT OF THE SET) together for 5 seconds and then release both buttons---power light will blink a 2 digit error code: for example---2 blinks, a pause and 2 blinks----it will repeat the error code about 10 times--look and count closely---let me know what code is and I will tell you what it means. Listen: you need to wait for the set to first shut off! then push on the TV(not the remote) Input and Menu both at the same time for 5 seconds and then release---the power light will then blink---this model has this feature--

This set uses a single STK-393-110 CONVERGENCE CHIP;I would bet one of the two pico fuses that protects it is blown----Means you are going to need to replace the Chip and fuse and adjust set---I have detailed instructions start to finish---step by step for this repair in this set---I can email them to you--it tells what you will need and how to do the repair---The chip can be purchased for about 14 dollars plus shipping on Ebay.

Give me a vote here and if you want the instructions let me know--

Would you like to bypass, defeat or reset your Mitsubishi HDTV Parental V-Chip parental lock? Have you forgotten your V-Chip passcode or password?

If you forget your V-Chip passcode, you can view the locked TV without entering your password.

When your passcode is requested, press the number 9 and the QV button on the original TV remote control at the same time. This process temporarily unlocks your TV.

When you enter the V-Chip Lock menu, pressing the number 9 and the QV button on the original TV remote control at the same time will delete your old password and prompt you to enter a new passcode. Pressing HOME at this time will cancel the entire passcode.

I hope that helps.
