That fact is the only solution to this "not compatible" error is to get a replacement. If the cartridge is new/original then it has factory fault. You must get another. But before you do that you want to confirm it is not as a result of dust on the connecting panel. To do this clean the connecting panel with tissue/cotton wool slightly soaked with methylated spirit.

Check printer cartridge compatibility before unpacking a new print cartridge. Make sure that it is compatible with your printer.

Remove the cartridges and check to make sure the electrical strip along the bottom of each cartridge is not damaged or ripped. If the cartridge is new, make sure the plastic protective tape has been completely removed. Place the cartridges back into the machine and turn it back on.

The message "Remove and check

Hi skmearle,

Things to check before knowing you most likely have damaged circuits in the printer.

- Have you placed the cartridges securely inside until you can feel its locked in?
- Another common mistake people make is forgetting to remove the plastic/paper tab that is placed on the cartridge to protect the electrical circuits on it and also leaking ink.
- Also; double check the compatibility of the type of cartridge youve bought.

Good Luck,

kc

My Canon IP 90V printer says that I need to install a black cartridge. I have installed a new cartridge and the same error message is displayed

Seems , you are not fit the cartridge properly in its place. Please remove then reinstall it. Check also for new cartridge for its compatibility for your printer

Cant load the printer cartridges for the pixma mp190

If you are trying to figure out how to load your ink cartridge in you Canon Pixma follow these instructions.
Make sure you printer is powered on. Open the top cover including the key display.
  • Step 2 Allow the ink return to move to left and stop. Remove the old cartridge which should have a 40 Black or 40 color on it by pushing down and popping it out of the holder.
  • Step 3 Now open your new ink cartridge and tear off the protective stip from the ink cartridge.
  • Step 4 Place the new ink cartridge in at a downward angle and then push into a straight position by pushing the bottom into place.
  • Step 5 Close the top an allow for the printer to adjust into place. Do a test print to make sure the printer is working correctly.
  • Step 6 If you experience an error message refer to your canon guide book for troubleshooting tips. Be sure your new ink cartridge in placed in correctly. Should be next to the other ink cartridge in same alignment.

    Canon MP210 getting E5 message with PG-50

Sadly Canon cripple many of their printers so that they will not accept the high yield cartridges such as the 50 & 51. As a result your printer the MP210 will only accept the 37 or 38 cartridges which are only half filled, or the 40 and 41 which are fairly full, but don't contain as much as the 50 & 51. All I can suggest is that you could try to sell the 50 on eBay, and send a strongly worded email to Canon.

Get rid of the HP 45, it is not compatable, even though it looks the same. Go buy the HP15 and the problem will be solved.

    Compatibility of Ink cartidge.

The MP600 does not use the 40 or 41 cartridges, it uses individual color (and black) ink tanks. But other models (MP190, MP460, MP470, etc) do use these cartridges. The error message you are receiving indicates that the printer does not recognize the cartridge you installed as a valid black ink cartridge. This can mean that either the cartridge is faulty, or that the printer has a problem.
I would suggest trying another new cartridge, and if you still get the same error, to contact Canon for support options if the unit is still in warranty.
