I can't hear the person on the other end on my Vtech phone

I can hear a dial tone and the numbers being dialed but I can't hear the line ring or the other person when they pick up but they can hear me. Also when the phone rings, I can't hear the person on the other end but they can still hear me. I have a VTech phone.
