This sounds like an overheat issue. I suspect that something has restricted the air flow. Air flow is required for function and to cool the motor. if the air flow is restricted a thermal limiter opens the circuit, rather than have a fire.
Possible that the switch is bad, part #40309033, take the handle off, then the tool compartment, then you can get to the switch, almost bet that one of the contacts is bad.
