Sorry to say that it won't work that way. If you had a 12V coil that you wanted to run on 24V, you could use a resistor of the right size and wattage to drop th 24V down to 12V, but if your coil needs 24V, 12V won't be able to run it. If it were AC, you could add a transformer, but they won't work with DC!

You will need to find a step-up dc-dc 12v-24v converter.

Is it just the coil that needs 24v?
What runs the compressor?

It depends on how much power you need.
You may be able to find a 12v - 24v DC-DC step up converter but they don't provide a lot of amps.

Again if it is just the coil you need to power to engage the clutch you could get a couple of small batteries and hook them up in series until you get to 24v. They might last for ages before you need to replace them.

Hope this helps.

Can l use a garmin sat nav on 24volt

Garmin GPS products operate on +5VDC and require an adapter to convert +12VDC to +5VDC. The internal battery is 3.7VDC and is charged by the +5VDC.

If you want to use +24VDC, you will need to find an adapter that converts +24VDC to +5VDC @ 1AMP and has the right connector to mate with the unit. Connecting +24VDC directly to the unit will damage the GPS.

Some motorcyclists connect the GPS directly to the +12VDC battery and damage the GPS.

My a/c is not working in my 2008 Suzuki forenza.

engine running
A/C on, a/c lamp glowing
fan on HIGH
the compressor clutch ,engages. (belt not missing or loose)
the compressor shaft spins very fast. near engine speed.
if it does, the loop has issues.
if not, the A/C AMP logic, module or the hi/lo freon swtich is open
the AMP, protects the loop and driver.
  1. the amp cuts the compressor, 6 ways, (about)
  2. evap freeze up
  3. a/c loop freon too low or high (that switch )
  4. engine overload.
  5. driving WOT, can cut A/c (wide open throttle) driver protection
  6. engine overheated.

if the clutch is dead. see if there is 12vdc across the clutch
yes, the coil in the clutch is open , OHMS= reads_ infinity
no.. the AMP as dropped off the A./C on purpose
we then check all inputs to the AMPA
i do the hi/lo switch first
all this is covered, in the FSM , HVAC chapter, not a secret at all.

What causes the air conditioner unit to screech

the compressor is seized.
key off.
a/c belt off.
apply power 12vdc to the clutch, the clutch is not enabled.
then buy hand, again engine off. turn the a/c pulley buy
hand, i bet you cant, and is called Seized.
this method works for all parts, on all belts that might seize.
(only a/c needs the clutch active to feel it)
it is possible the clutch bearing is siezed.
that can be fell with not applying 12vdc it s coil.

WHY MY IZUSU AIRCONDITION COMPRESSOR WILL NOT WORK AUTOMATIC

so the A/C is on , blower on and blowing
and the compressor clutch drops out?
the shaft on the compressor stalls? and pulley is fast.
that means the A/C AMP logic module sees errors.
or the hi/low pressure switch is open (12vdc on both sides is good)

2008 honda accord air will not work ,has freon ,relay works but compressor will not kick on.

#1 top A/C post here ever. bravo that.
this is caused by by the AC brain.
(location varies by year, and country)
A/C brain discrete, cira 90s
to after 2007 , they moved the brain, now pure software inside
the ECU or BCM , on most cars.
it really dont matter much where it is until you get to back probe the bugger. right?
so , here is the reasons for A/C clutch dead.

1:clutch bad, apply 12v to it see if it works (wires discon, please)
do so for on 1second, so as not damage system.
check for coil ohms near 1ohm. at clutch.
infinity is bad coil.
OR do :
1b" 12v to coil AC on? any volt meter works. 11 to 15v typical.
13.3 to 14.7 running engine typical.
yes, clutch dead.
2: 12v not at coil of clutch bad relay.
3: relay coil not energized.
3a: power to relay not on coil, if yes, bad relay .
3b: relay coil dead. no power. the brain has it shut down!

4: the brain, stops the AC for all these reasons
simple answer , inputs wrong.
full answer:
a: too low freon pressure, in truth or sensor fibbing
b: too high freon pressure, same, reasons.
c: ENGINE over load, (pulling trailer or going WOT )
d: engine overheat. (ecu say so or AC has its own sensor saying so, RTM.
e: Evap core (the cold core in dash) has frozen over to a ice brick. (a freeze sensor is there) caused by stuck open expansion valve. in core.
f: no power to AC brain, 90s cars. or missing ground,
g: AC not on, or brain can not see fan going, usual the is just
the 12vdc to fan missing. or the wire fell off.

some cars have all this, my 96 does.
on newer cars the ECU can shut the AC down for many reasons.
most are related to safety to the driver, or Compressor.
for what reasons, only the FSM answers that , and varies
by year, engine type, model and country sold.
if in usa , you didnt say. then alldata dot com has these facts
and more , under section called HVAC.

The brain will not allow you to burn up the compressor or worse.
it tries very hard at that. even as old as 1991 cars. (some)
today all.

No power when television is turned on

1) test the outlet box and plug a desk lamp if work, if does the circuit is o.k if NOT reset the c.breaker from your home
2) test the power cord for open or break
3) see for a blown fuse inside and replace, or c.breaker tripped reset.
4) test for short in transformer+coil+filter+diode+rectifier and ground chassin.
5) test the Horizontal output for +125vdc +HVREC+FLYBACK+vertical output for 80vdc+all they go to the CRT. measure the color circuite +12vdc+other circuite+12vdc+audio 24vdc. see the block diagram oTHERWISE you must to the repair shop TV

Coil on a/c compressor

If you are talking about the part behind the pulley on the compressor, its part of the clutch assembly.
You get the pulley and coil as a kit which bolts to the shaft.
Check the online auto parts stores for ac clutch.

Coil on a/c compressor

You do understand that the compressor cycles on and off as needed to maintain system pressure?? Check and see if the clutch closing coil has 12 volts to it at the connector when it stops, if it does the clutch closing coil is defective and you will need a set of compressor tools to replace it.
