If you dont have the original CD of your Windows Operating system you are left with no option to completely restore a original Vista Home Premium. The best suggestion would be to Install TuneXP http://www.tunexp.com/ which is a Windows Repairing Utility, helpful in sorting out all your Windows Problems.

Go to the control panel > device manager > scroll down to dvd drives and click on it. When you see the drive appear, highlight it and right click on it. Choose uninstall and ok. Make sure the box is UNCHECKED that says delete drivers. You want to keep the drivers so just uninstall the dvd drive. Once that is done, turn the laptop off. Take out the battery and press the power button for about 10 seconds. Replace the batttery and power the system back up. When windows loads, it will find the hardware and start installing the drivers for it. If it wants to search windows update for an updated driver, say yes and let it. Once it is completed its task, try to play something in it like a music cd.

I lost my cd of my laptop and i need to reformat it,how can i reformat with out the cd containing my windows vista home premium?

Hello :

I have an idea but I don't know if it's legal in your country or not !

The idea is that you can download windows vista using a torrent client . After that you can burn it on a CD then use the CD for reformatting .

If that is not clear then contact again by commenting please !

Instaling windows 7 in vaio laptop have vista orginal windows how solving the problem in instaling windows 7?

if your system came with vista originally the issue would be is you would need to know what version of vista you have on your system, the version makes the difference if you have vista home premium then your windows 7 should be a win7 Home premium as well, because if you are upgrading vista using your win7 disc and your windows version are different for example you have vista Home premium and your win7 is win7 ultimate and you do an upgrade the problem will be your product key,

but if you have a retail version of win7 and you are installing it on your laptop Vaio insert the disc in the DVD-drive win7 needs a DVD reader to be able to install win7 if you have a cd-rom it wont work, then turn the laptop off power it back up keep on tapping f12 it should bring you a boot menu, select ODD or which ever is your dvd drive then press enter then enter again if it says on the screen press any key to boot to CD, this should begin win7 installation on the screen saying windows is loading files the so on ans so fort ^_^ this will over write everything in vista but in win7 it will still create a windows.old folder from vista only from the my documents folder my picture and my music and my video and desktop Items but remember application icons will not work on win7 you may need to reinstall the program again for it to work on win7 and yeah make sure that you choose custom/advance in the selection screen do no select upgrade unless you vista and win7 are the same version eg. Vista Home premium / Win7 Home premium ^_^

I have oem vista home premium and need to format

most computer makers put the restore on a partition of the hard drive that is accessed using an F-key on bootup. You should see f-key options displayed (very quickly) on booting up and one will be "restore". For example, on an HP machine, it'll be F11 you hit on boot up to go into the restore partiton.

I need to get back in my OEM vista home premium

If you contact Toshiba, they can send you the original restore disks. If you are really nice to them, they might send them out for free.. I believe normally they do charge but they sent them to me for free a couple of years ago with my Toshiba laptop :)

Error -need to re-install the operating system

Insert your Windows Vista Basic CD into the CD ROM drive and restart your computer.

It will autoboot from the CD and you can reinstall Vista Basic.

Should you have further problems don't hesitate to give more details.
