this tv has 3 drive boards at the bottom of the tv, inside the back, hard to get to them, there is one in the middle , and one on each side, they usually cost arount 100 dollars, the drive board below where the line is, has probabily gone bad, but about 20 percent of the time, you can undo the ribbon connector where the line is, and reconnect it, and sometimes it will fix it,
Ok if your hitachi TV dies with no power anywhere try this: Some models have a kill switch under the bottom edge. It's like a gray switch like a small light switch press it back in and voila let there be LIGHT. Saves you at least a $200 trip to repair shop!!
My Hitachi TV Flat screen 42 EDT 4 1A has a one inch black line from the top to the bottom of the
screen on the left side. What or how do I fix it. I did blow it out with a air compressor as suggested by a local repairman.
This might be due to the screen not receiving drive signal from the screen driver board; dry solder connections, broken bus lines, and or defective screen could be the problem. I would suggest taking the set to a qualified TV repair shop and having them diagnose and repair this issue, due to the damage that might be caused by the removal of the broads to get at that part of the set.
IF THE LINE IS ABOUT 1INCH WIDE THE CHANCES ARE IT WILLBE YOUR PLASMA DISPLY THAT HAS GONE . WOULD BR CHEAPER TO BUY A NEW UNIT . HOWEVER TRY RINGING HITACHI EXPLAIN THE FAULT COMPLAIN THAT IT SHOULD OF LASTED LONGER THAN THE WARANTY AND SEE WHAT THEY WILL DO ABOUT IT
