Question about Canon PowerShot SD750 / IXUS 75 Digital Camera

Dropped SD750 on floor, now won't turn on

I dropped my Canon SD750 on the floor yesterday and the flipping cover for the battery compartment opened up, although nothing fell out. I've been trying to turn on the camera for a day now and it hasn't responded. I even recharged the battery and put it back in and the camera isn't doing anything. Can anybody help me? I would hate to buy a new camera, as I just bought this one last year.

That's a hard one to analyze through email. A camera tech would have to use test equipment on it to see if the power section got shorted when the door opened when it hit the floor. It may not be a cheap or easy fix, but only a tech can tell. I have heard of cameras getting damaged, just from putting batteries in backwards, so a short circuit might have damaged a chip inside. Of course a warranty does not cover dropped cameras, but you might want to have them look at it and tell you what it will cost.

Hi,

If this is the case, the camera might have internal damage. Might be better to send it back to Canon delears/shop for repair. Please try below link

I have dropped my camera and it just shows a plain white screen.

Only the way is replacing the screen. Your screen is damaged after drop down. So please visit service center. Thanks.

My sd750 will not start up

Does the lens cover move when you do this? If it doesn't, it sounds like that might be the problem.

Barrel and lens cover of the canon sd750 don't open completely.

Hi

Sounds like it's dirty or the springs have been dislodged. You can tear it apart yourself and see if you can rebuild it, or send it to us and we can fix it for about $40!

Don't bother with a store, they will tell you it needs a new lens for $175! Go ask, you will see.

If we can help, let us know.

No power on Canon SD750

Here are some simple things to try first for a camera that won't power on. They won't work for every case, but they're worth a try:

Canon powershot SD750 will not turn on.

Hi
There are several things that could cause this.

1- Check the battery door indicator switch under the battery door and beside the memory card slot. Is the little black switch damaged or missing? Try pressing down gently using a pen it with the door open and then press the power button. Does it turn on?

2- The fuse has blown and needs to be replaced. Offhand I don't recall where it is on the SD750 PCB or how hard it is to solder on a new one (depends on if its tricky to get at or not). Good thing is fuses are really cheap.

3- Other power problem with the PCB due to corrosion or impact damage. The PCB or 'motherboard' of the camera will need to be replaced.

hi,
since you have dropped the camera there must be some slight internal problem which is not letting u do some small functions. So u can take to a camera doctor. He can probably fix it and it wouldn't cost much.

Camera was dropped and is not on

Take batteries out and have them checked, and make sure they are fully charged. Take a pencil eraser and clean/polish the contacts at base of the battery compartment Take a look at the battery-comp cover place and make sure the contact plate is firm replace batteries switch on OK No? Open the battery compartment, place a piece of foil across the batteries and shut it - turn on -OK No? Press the cover in OK No? Them it has broken beyond your reach and needs repair or replacement
