I believe you most likely have a defrost problem. Look inside rear of freezer and see if there is a lay of frost building up on rear wall or floor, depending on what model you have it could most likely be the defrost timer or adaptive defrost. I need your Sears number that looks like this foe example 231.56489 on the bottom of fresh food door frame behind door seal and near floor kick plate. Your next most likely reasons will be defrost heater or defrost thermostat. If you find frost I want you to unplug and begin manual defrost. Remove rear panel of freezer after unplugging and use a hair dryer. That will give you a little time to see the problem and get answers to repair them, Sea Breeze

I am assuming you are referring to Fahrenheit.. 16 is a little warm for a freezer. They usually stay around zero to 10 degrees above or below.

Freezer not freezing anymore, refrigerator is not as cold. Barely cooling anymore

I hope you find the answer. I have the same problem. I have a 4.5 year old Whirlpool Gold side by side and the Freezer tops out at 30 degrees and refrigerator at 44 degrees. I paid $216 today for a control board by a "local Factory Authorized Service Agent" and the temperature has not budged one bit since the repair 4 hours ago. I called the service company and he told me the refrigerator had to "stabilize" and I should see a difference tomorrow. I'm not holding my breath!

Refrigerator cools, but not cool enough, even with temp adjustment turned to coldest setting. Freezer only gets down to 0. Fridge at 44 degrees

If the evaporator coils behind the back panel of the freezer are icing up because of auto defrost failure that will stop the circulation of cold air and eventually affect the freezer too.

The fridge gets its cold air from the freezer through a vent between the freezer and fridge. The fan in the freezer blows air through it. There is a flap you adjust with the fridge temp. control. Make sure it's opening and closing when you adjust the fridge temp ..

check defrost timer, defrost heater, defrost thermostat. In most newer models the timer has been replaced by an electronic control board. If the heater and thermostat are ok it’ll be the control.

The refrigerator is not staying cold

Check it's cealing of the door. Depends if it's cooling and then not staying cold, means door is not cealed or frequency of opening too much. More possibility is gas leakage.
